“Great value, loved it, will go again”
Reviewed 5 July 2009

My wife and I rented room 209 from June 25 - 28, a one bedroom deluxe suite. It was clean with ceramic tile floors, all the appliances worked and we had a good view (we were on the second floor, for a great view go higher, we had a few palm trees obstructing part of our view). We had two balconies, one overlooking the pool and one looking straight out to the ocean. I don't believe you'll find a much better value. There are no brand new hotels on the beach in Myrtle Beach and if they are newly renovated, that doesn't mean your room will have been. These rooms are owned by individuals, it is their home away from home, and that is just how we felt, like we were home. There were a few places where the wall paper needed reglueing and I had to giggle the handle on the toilet once, feels like home to me. If you're looking for easy access to the beach, convient location to the shopping and shows then this is the place. The elevator was a little inconvient. we were on the second floor so we used the stairs, we would have used them if we were on the third or fourth floor, any higher up we would have used the elevator. There are only two and when we were leaving, with the rest of the guest, things got a little crazy.

I went to Myrtle Beach with my daughter and my granddaughter . We left the husbands at home to work. :-) We decided to get a one bedroom with 2 doubles and take a playpen for little one to sleep in. This was rented straight from the owner. I knew of the building since I have stayed on the "golden mile" but had never stayed at here before. I like to stay in this area since it is right in the middle of going north to Barefoot Landing or the outlet shops or south to the mall or Broadway at the Beach. It was a nice place and she just brought in new furniture for the living room and dining room. The appliances in the kitchen are new except maybe the microwave. The bedroom had 2 doubles and the mattresses are new and firm. The condo is on the second floor which is good because you will want to use the one flight of stairs instead of waiting for the elevators in the lobby. The unit 202 is the second unit up from the back of the hotel so you have a side view of the ocean but it isn't really high enough to see a whole lot. You are right above the lazy river but the roof of it is still on (from the winter months) so you don't see them floating around. It is probably better that way because those people floating around would have probably stared up at you if you are sitting out on the large balcony she has. The small pool is right in front of the lazy river towards the ocean (front side of the hotel) and I was never bothered with any loud noises. It is not a very big pool but most people in the hotel are at the beach across the street anyway. It also has a small kiddie pool too. You do have to cross the street to get to the beach but it is no bother and really close to you. There is a small room called Sandlappers that they use as a bar and grill. Breakfast is very cheap there and they have mostly sandwiches or appetizers to purchase for lunch and dinner until 10:30PM. The bar has drinks around $6.50 each or beer at $3 - $4. There is a small indoor pool, small weight room and small laundry room too. The unit has a long hallway when you walk in and the bedroom is first on the left. You then have a full bath on the left with tub further down the hallway and you can walk through that bath to get to a half bath that swings around and also has a door into the bedroom. It was really nice to have the 2 baths to get ready in. :-) Proceeding down the hallway you enter the living room and kitchen. You have a full size sofa bed in the living room if you need it. We did not use it so I don't know if it is comfortable or not. The owner starts you off with a few soaps, few rolls of toilet paper, dishwasher and dish detergent and paper towels. We had a lot of bath towels and even a bag of towels marked "beach towels" but we didn't use them. I will return there again.

We stayed in this condo hotel in April. Some of the condos are owned by individuals and managed by the hotel staff. Our three-bedroom oceanview suite had three well appointed bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms a full kitchen, a lovely dining area and a sitting room with plenty of comforable sitting. Our balcony faced south and gave us wonderful views of the beach and shoreline. We loved watching people walking and playing on the beach and loved strolling along miles of beachfront just outside our door. Coming from Canada we really enjoyed the beautiful weather which reached 86 degrees. The staff were very friendly and we could pick up free newspapers every day. The pool, hot tub and lazy river were clean and well maintained. Myrtle Beach has a lot ot offer families as well as seniors. We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to another visit soon.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Forest Dunes. We stayed in a delux 1 bedroom oceanfront and the view was excellent; but the condo needed some serious updating. The applicances were filthy on the outside and the outside of the stove was full of old burnt grease and 2 of the burners did not work . The bed was like sleeping on plywood and an outdated tv and picture was poor. We also had some problems with the elevator which the last 3 days one was not working and the wait was very long.
I can say the room service was great!

As for the Bar what a joke we go to have a drink and the bill was $14.75 WOW a little high don't you think?

The owners of Forest Dunes resorts are very proud of our individually owned and decorated condominiums and take great pride in sharing our beach homes with our guests. We want all guests considering Forest Dunes to know the housekeeping issues in this review have been addressed with the management. Since our units are individually decorated, we realize that some guests may have slightly different taste than a particular owner. But rest assured we have strong standards for equipping our units, to ensure every guests has everything they need. Guests can also request an updated unit when making a reservation.

This was the seconde time that my family stayed at Forest Dunes. We enjoyed our first stay, but I did notice that some things improved about this resort from the first stay.
The pool was clean and so was the lazy river. The indoor pool was clean as well but I thought that it looked a little murky, but it may have been the lack of lighting in that area.
We stayed in room 508 and had a lovely view of the ocean from our balcony. The room overall was nice and clean. The furniture was nice as well. The only thing that I disliked about the room was the fact that the carpet had an odor and the sleeper sofa did not function properly. Overall I like this resort and may come back again in the future.
If you can get past unfriendly desk staff, then this is a wonderful resort to come to. The housekeeping staff was excellent. My husband also went to the bar located in the hotel and the staff their was great as well.

We are glad you brought the couch and floor to our attention. We do not live in the area and rely on people like you to let us know what needs to be done. We will certainly make sure that these needs are addressed.
Thank you again!

Our family has been going to this area every year and we always choose Forest Dunes - the penthouse is wonderful with the best view I've seen in this area. 2 large bedrooms, 2 baths and a room with bunkbeds for the kids. Also pull out sofa for additional sleeping room. Washer, dryer and kitchen - home away from home for a great time to spend with family!
