“Summer 2012”
Reviewed 26 June 2012

We went in the month of June and had a blast. The resort is very clean and family friendly. WE love the water park that is at the resort. The ocean is very accessible. Everynight we go to the amusement park that is part of the family package and stay for hours. WE will be back next year.

Room Tip: If you stay in the driftwood request an even floor. This way you have access to 4 elevators you can...

I have neve written a review for a hotel before good or bad, but our 3rd & final stay at the Sea Mist was the last straw. We had stayed there twice before about 7 or 8 years ago. Back then the hotel was much nicer, so we looked forward to staying there again. We had always stayed in 1-room with 2 beds when our daughters were younger, but this time opted for a 2-room suite so we could have some privacy & assumed that the accomodations would be beautiful, considering it would cost us $200 per night.

After checking in where we had to pay our bill in full, we were then given the key to our suite. The Sanddollar suite was a 2-story rundown looking building on the outside, but we were hopeful the suite would be much nicer on the inside. We were wrong. The suite consisted of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a small kitchen area, and a dining room/living room combo with a pull-down bed. The kitchen cabinets were very old & cheap looking. No big deal because we don't cook on vacation anyway. There was no carpetting on the floor & after awhile we discovered that unless we wore black socks or shoes, our feet would get very dirty & gritty after only a few minutes. The private lock & chain on the front door were both broken off which we noticed right after we brought all our luggage in. The 3 televisions were very old & the reception on all of them was terrible. On our first night we found out not only were we unable to order a movie which we do in many hotels, but there were also no premium movie channels to watch either. The reception was so bad we would not be able to enjoy what we were watching anyway. We did have excitement at night though. Racing to get back into the room at night to try & outrun the huge bugs that were always waiting around our door to get into our suite. On our first night there one particularly large bugger got into our kitchen until my husband stepped on it & killed it. After that incident,we were ready for them each & every night of our stay there!

The ammenities! At check-in we were given an EZ cash card for $80 which could be used at any of their ammenities with the exception of the italian ices stand at the water park that we know of. Usually when we stay at a hotel whether it be a really nice one or a stopover for the night at a motel, there is always a free breakfast. It is either a simple continental one or a hot cooked to order breakfast. At Sea Mist they have Tena's Restaurant with a breakfast buffet. You must stay a minimum of 4 nights & take their family value vacation package in order to receive ONE free breakfast @Tena's. So, even though we paid $1,000 to stay 5 nights in a seedy, rundown family suite we were not given even ONE free breakfast @Tena's because we chose not to take the family value package. We have taken the family vacation package the last 2 times we stayed there, but we felt it wasn't worth the extra money to do it again. All you actually get with it is 1 free breakfast & free daily passes to family kingdom amusement & water parks which we would only do for one day anyway since there is so much else to do in Myrtle Beach..

This was our 3rd & final stay at Sea Mist. This so-called resort has seriously gone downhill over the years & is probably now one of the absolute worst places you could stay in Myrtle Beach. We still love Myrtle Beach & will certainly go back again, but it will definitely NEVER be at Sea Mist every again! The folks who are responsible for running this place should hang their heads in shame for this crappy resort/roach motel & even more so for the ridiculously overpriced rates they charge to stay here. Before we left we found a very nice affordable motel right in the heart of the boardwalk near all the shops & the beach for $85 per night which is much nicer than the suite at the Sea Mist. So, we will be staying there from now on. Good riddance, Sea Mist!

The Sea Mist, may not be the most up scale accomodations you can find, but surely they make up for it in many ways. I wanted to take my oldest grandson on a vacation to Myrtle Beach simply because we love Myrtle Beach ourselves and have vacationed there for years. The Sea Mist was the selection my daughter-in-law picked from the choices I gave her. The kids loved looking out at the lazy river, water tub slide, and the ocean. Our packages included breakfast for the children for one day, total access to the lazy river, water slide, and the family amusement park. There was Putt right on the grounds, which made my grandsons so happy. This was truly geared for children, and that's exactly what I wanted. We took turns supervising, but it was worth it, seeing how happy the children were, and how much they enjoyed being at the Sea Mist. I thank all the staff that work so hard to make the accomodation there what they are.

We had a 4 day family reunion in June 2012. I loved it! The roomon the 16th floor in the Driftwood (Oceanview) was large enough to move around in and relax, and the view was amazing. It was clean, bright and cheery. The fridge was a small, full size. It's an old resort, but well maintained for it's age. All of the employees I had contact with, throughout the resort, were very friendly and helpful. If you don't like the ocean, there are 10 pools and 2 jacuzzis, plus the water park to keep you cool. You are given a very detailed map of the whole resort and there are maps posted in various places and there are employees everywhere to ask anything. I did not have children with me, but it seems very kid friendly with tons of stuff to do. Parking was a little inconvenient, but there are busses that go all over Myrtle Beach, so you really don't need to drive anywhere. I enjoyed it tremendously and will definitely go again.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms are not necessarily better than Oceanview rooms.

We have been staying at Seamist for several years. When our children were small we brought them and now they are 18 and still enjoy staying there. Everything we need is right there. We park our car and never have to leave for anything else.

We had a nice time here, we checked in from 6/18/12-6/22/12. I was a little disappointed with the room there was no dishwasher or washer and dryer, but there was a laundry mat on the premises which was across the street. The oceanfront view was nice. According to a notice in the lobby, Sea Mist plans on renovating all of the bldgs on the property which should be nice. The package with the daily passes to the parks was well worth it. We went to the amusement park which was only 6 small blocks down every night, to park there was $6 so we saved a little money. I would suggest bringing some water bottles because the cost for drinks and food was expensive at the park. The kids enjoyed the rollercoaster and the log ride. The beach was clean and the water was nice. There is a movie theater on the property that showed free movies on Monday and Thursday, the movie selections are kid friendly (like the Muppets and Tin tin) but the popcorn was burnt and overpriced. Overall we had a great time and will most likely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor in the Tides bldg and the oceanfront view was awesome! We had an efficien...

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay and my room. After reading some of the reviews i was a little nervous at what i would find once i got there. I loves my room. I had a family suite. This is a very family friendly hotel. If you go, i really recommend the family package, well worth it! We only spent money on souvenirs! Ready to planwas another trip!
