“Cheap, old, but great customer service”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We stayed two nights in the Sandcastle building. The good: Originally, they placed us on the first floor next to the pool, but I have chemical sensitivities and the front desk person was very nice about getting us into a different room. The kitchens had everything you would need to make food. The room even had a dining room table so we could sit down and eat. No carpeting and instead hardwood floors was nice. The bad: The beds feel like they have been around for 15-20 years and are very uncomfortable. I had dried pee on our toilet seat when we got there which made me wonder what other corners housekeeping cut. I felt like I was sleeping in a cardboard box bc you can hear everything all around you. The insulation around the doors is so poor you can see light all around the front door. You could hear every conversation as people were walking by, not just muffled, but every word. You can hear people upstairs loud and clear. First night I had a very difficult time sleeping bc of the bed and the noise. Also, another negative for us was the music being played by the beach. It went fairly late on Friday night and we had to be up early for sports, and I really like peaceful days at the beach. The elevator is ancient and takes FOREVER and the lights don't all work so you don't know if it is coming. In addition, luggage carts are scarce and difficult to find. Ocean view also isn't really ocean view. We could only see the ocean from the far side of the patio, so only one person could have the view, which is a narrow view. Would not stay again.

Room Tip: Ocean view doesn't mean much of an ocean view. If you want to get a good view of the ocean, get...

We stayed at the Sea Mist for our annual summer beach trip. We had a great stay and it was just what we needed! It was clean and comfortable. The price was great, too! We enjoyed the view of the ocean from our room, we loved the breakfast at the restaurant, we loved the little beach bar on your way to the beach. It was very quiet during the time we were there. We were able to get the rest and relaxation we hoped for. The only issue was our room key kept acting up and it would take us a few tries to get in. Also, the elevators move slowly so I would recommend taking the stairs if you're able. We will definitely stay again!

Like the title suggest- you get what you pay for. Our room was cheap, and once we got here we realized why. First thing we noticed coming into our room are the floors. They're a cheap laminate that look like they're rotting. The bed sheets are super cheap- they feel like your laying on sandy sheets.. Small tv, and small bathroom. It's a little difficult to navigate the resort. Like which building you're in, and where to park, and elevators. Elevators are out of date and take forever to come.

They're lots of pluses as week though. This is a massive resort that says they have lots of things to do on the "resort". There is a bar on the way to the beach in between the pools. There is a full sized refrigerator- which I found odd. Most places have the small refrigerators that barely fit anything in them. There are tons of pools, tons of things for the kids to do- ie free movie night, free magic show night.. Etc.

All in all, looking for a cheap but clean place to stay? Perfect little spot. :)

Sea Mist Resort was less expensive than our other potential choices. Our room was clean and comfortable (Tides building). The staff were very helpful and courteous. The pools were very clean. It is an older building, but well cared for.

The kids (6 and 7) really enjoyed the water park and the children's activity pool. I would stay there again.

Was nervous about booking with seamist after reading the reviews. But my daughter seen pictures of the pool area and an ocean front room was about $200 cheaper than some of my other choices. Because most reviews for tide building were better we decided to reserve that room. (Learned you can only get sandcastle building with Expedia, which is not mentioned there) luckily when I called a few days before leaving a lovely woman named Jill worked with me to get what i wanted and eased my concerns. Pros: budget friendly, beautiful view with great beach access, rooms were outdated and a little run down but clean. Cons: parking is horrible, the property is run down and does slightly smell (thank goodness for glade plug ins) you have to pay to use the waterpark, the indoor pool area was disgusting and falling apart. Overall, I would say if you are on a budget it is descent. But I can only speak for the tides building. Jill put us on the 4th floor in the corner just off the stairwell (because of concerns with other reviews about elevators) I was happy with our stay here.
