We love Sea Mist ,we have stayed there 2 times this year ,May & July , Will be back in Oct.
It is a nice place to stay ,Rooms are very clean, linens was very nice and clean and staff is friendly ,I love it because everything is right there u don't have to leave the Resort U have golf pools everwhere outside and inside just go and u will love it we did,The only thing I would change would have music at night somewhere on the Resort for nightly entertainment other than that u will not be dispointed staying at the SeaMist Resort.

After reading the reviews my family and I decided to chance the Sea Mist and we were surprised to say the least. We stayed in the Driftwood building and the room was nice. No it was not five star but for what we paid it was nice. From the bartender at the cabana, right down by the dunes, to the cold ice cream, in a warm ice cream shop, we found the staff to be pleasant and friendly. Our room was clean and our maid took care of all our needs. (her accent was funny but she was always smiling) There were some down sides however, just to be fair. Check in took (almost) forever, and when I checked out, they did not ask how my stay was but overall it was a great weekend get-a-way before school started. What we like most about the trip was the beach and the POOLS. There were so many to chose from. What we liked least was the time it took to check in. Our recomendation, give them a try, I did not feel that it was as bad as some have made it seem.

I along with many family members and friends recently stayed at this resort. It is very large with many pools, movie theater, and a water park. First of all, the hotel is not conducive for older people. There were many seniors in our group who were forced to walk far to get around the resort. The breakfast buffet is across the main road. This was very inconvenient. There were very large roaches in the parking lot and in the hallways outside of the rooms. Some members in our group complained that roaches were in their rooms! I bough fantastic cleaner and tried to clean the room. That helped, but it was not sufficient. The bed sheets and blankets were sandy also! And, do not take your shoes off in the room. The rooms have no carpet and the floors were filthy. I had to put towels down all over the floor so that I could walk barefoot. Moreover, our room was very moist. I am not sure why but the floor was moist all the time. Our towels had stains on them too. We had a bus group of 50 people. About 90% of them had similar complaints. Upon my arrival, I called housekeeping and they were very responsive. They immediately came up to mop my room, but it was still dirty. On a positive note, I enjoyed the pools. They were not too bad. My daughter and my cousins (ages 12, 14 and 15) said the water park was small and was a big disappointment. Stay here at your own risk. If you bring your own towels, sheets, cleaner, and bug spray, you may be ok.

My wife and I read the reviews, and understood this was not a 5 star resort. First, the good points: 1. The Sea Mist is family oriented resort, lots of activities, their own waterpark, movie theater, restaurants, small grocery store. 2. Reasonable priced resort and pet friendly, able to have a ocean view room with our pet..
Now the bad, The elevator didn't work when we got there so we lugged the luggage. No hot water, just luke warm, the toilet leaked on the floor, the floors in room are hardwood, but no matter how much you wiped them, still gritty sand. Myrtle Beach has a city ordinance that fireworks on the beach are prohibited. That's a joke, starting a 10 PM and going until 3:30 AM the three nights we were there. We contacted the front desk, and they said if they are not on the Sea Mist Property there was nothing they could do. We contacted the Myrtle Beach Police each night. Well, the 3rd night the police officer actually caught them in the act, he stopped his vehicle and in less then 30 seconds left. 30 minutes later the fireworks continued. I got a total of 2 hours sleep each night of our stay. The beach was littered with trash and cigarette butts. It's my first and only visit to the Sea Mist and Myrtle Beach.

This resort will trick you from the pictures on this website. Do not waste you time because the results are ugly and the staff is not nice. My friends and family were disappointed in the room because it was in the sandollar suite building and it looked a hot mess!!!!

Our rooms(2) were disgusting. The rooms smelled, one had cigarette ashes on the floor, another broken lamps, yes multiple, mold and bugs. The hallway has green outdoor carpeting, it was very badly stained and smelled just as bad as the room. The only Wi-Fi is in the lobby and is shoddy at best.

My husband checked us out the first day we arrived - we did receive a full refund. The manager offered to allow us to stay for one free night since it was late but we so hated the place we drove to several locations until we found a vacancy at nice place.

After we left my cousin overhead someone else complaining to management about bed bugs, this is when my brother and his wife decided they needed to leave as well.

This place is a dump the manager practically apologize for the condition saying they have people to do quality control assessments but there is not time to read the reports.

I would suggest you spend more to stay on the beach or be willing to stay a little further away if your budget is limited.

We made the reservations (Family Value Package) before we read the reviews and became very apprehensive about the trip but decided to go ahead and do it anyway.

First off, let me start by saying if you are expecting the Ritz then you will be sorely disappointed. The Sea Mist is a collection of motel/hotel type accomodations scattered on about a 6 block radius. With the exception of maybe 2 or 3 buildings, all their property resemble a Motel 6/Super 8. We were lucky to get into one of the taller buildings (we were on the 14th floor of the Driftwood). The room was clean and adequate. Cleaning staff came everyday but changed linens every 2 days (there is note on your bed stating this fact).

Yes, common areas (lobbies, halls, elevators) can be musty but then people go thorugh these areas wet from the pool or beach and with sand on them...

We never had a problem with parking - there is a parking deck behind the on-site waterpark - a short walk away from all the buildings - that always had spaces. If you want instant access (as in building or room front) parking then you will have problems but if walking no more than 5 minutes is not a big deal then you're good.

The pools were not olympic size but will certainly facilitate play for all ages...! Most pools were crowded in the afternoon and early evening. The on-site waterpark is small but adequate - especially for younger children (I have 2 under 7) and is great alternative to the pools. The on-site miniature golf "course" was certainly not as flashy as the others around town (no windmills, disney characters, jungle animals, etc.) but certainly enjoyable and well-kept not to mention FREE!

The free tickets to the Family Kingdom Amusement and WaterPark are really a good deal...the parks are about 6 blocks away...definitely walkable (which we did on one occassion). We did the water park twice (3 kiddie pools and 3 good adult slides) and the amusement park (lots of rides for the smaller kids, one roller coaster, a log flume, bumper cars/boats, etc.) once.

Breakfast (Tena's Restaurant) was okay...there was a line to get in as there was a tour group (4 buses total) that was in with us. The food was definitely more substantial (sausage, bacon, grits, biscuits/gravy, etc.) than continental. I would give Jason's cafe a miss though...a little too pricey for the caliber of food that they serve. Three Steps Down, however, is a totally different story. Awesome Prime Rib! We also has the Shrimp Alfredo - yum. The kids meals are bigger than kid size and also very good (we had the chicken tenders and mini burgers). If you go, try their bread pudding.

Bottom line, if you expect to be enjoying all that Myrtle Beach can offer - beach, pools, putt-putt and seafood buffets (give the Giant Crab buffet a miss though -tooooo pricey for what they offer) and are looking for a place to sleep and wash up between activities then Sea Mist and all they offer is an excellent value. If you are looking for a top-end resort/spa - then go somewhere else.
