“An out of place Garden that just makes sense!”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

The Garden was made in the 1930s in a small South Carolina town and at first glance you may find it strange that a garden like this was made in this town. I, however, thoroughly enjoyed the visit. There are some oriental plants and vegetation that you otherwise wouldn't find in South Carolina, there is a Japanese tea house, and a small bridge. The highlight (besides the Japanese structures) had to have been the mini-pond (Coy pond??) which is still stocked with asian style fish, I saw bright orange-fire red fish and watched them swim under the bridge. This garden seems like the perfect place to pack a lunch or spend about 30 min for a quiet reflection. Enjoy!

“Experience the orient... in Newberry”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

This is a wonderful little park. Who would ever of thought you would find a Japanese garden in this little town. The structures are excellent representations of historical Japan. The Plants and property are well taken care of. This is a nice, relaxing place to sit and reflect. Have a drink at the tea house. while not big in size, tucked away on a side street, it still provides a nice experience.
