The side of town was a little shadey, but they had security, the place was clean, and the staff was very nice and accommodating . People you have to remember you get what you pay for. The price was 1/2 of what it cost 2 miles down the road.

Room Tip: Just ask for one of the remodeled rooms on the lower floors. There are planes that start landing ear...

To get to the hotel we were taken through a very bad looking part of town to find the hotel location was no better. Horrible location, police cars in the parking lots and groups of people loitering in the lot. We canceled our reservation and never made it inside, but if it was anything like what we found outside, it was probably for the best.

I would not recommend this Hotel for lodging. The TV did not work properly, could not get on the internet, Telephone did not work Floor was not vacuumed properly, only 1 face wash cloth for 2.
I did comp-lain to the front desk and did get the tv working better but over 1/2 stations did not work. Never got the face cloth never got the room phone to work.
Breakfast w there was a $2.50 charge per guest was not told when we checked in.

Room Tip: Stay some where else avoid this property.

I've been a lot of places and stayed in a full range of temporary quarters. Incredible luxury to scary rough camping.

I'm going on record as defending this hotel. AND the area.

Bad area? Huh!?! That's funny, none of the buildings have bars on the windows or doors. It's a semi urban, blue collar, hard working and honest neighborhood with working class, decent people. Like the ones I grew up with. The stores that service this area do not need bars to keep theft from happening. The people are honest. They do not need police presence. The people are decent.

You can get your things stolen from a hotel in New York that will charge you $400+ a night to do it. The staff will be mostly white and dress nice with no tattoos so you will feel safe while they take your diamonds and hold a gun on you.

The property is not dirty. It is old and difficult to maintain. It is clean and the staff is helpful, friendly. nice and kind.

The hotel is poorly maintained. It is not awesome. It is cheap.

We use hotels to sleep in. We are seasoned travelers and we are doers. We get up in the morning, grab something to eat and enjoy the day in a fun filled new to us city. Then we go back to our room at night and sleep until time to do it again. THAT SAID:

We got this hotel in a mystery deal on the internet. The reviews scared us and we nearly backed out of it. I'm glad we didn't and I've actually come to be angry at the reviews and believe that they may even be disgruntled employees or - even more likely - ignorant bigots.
I mean, REALLY!? One of the reviewers claims a maid stole shoes from one of his parties' rooms and replaced them into another room (with the same party). Another review claims their car was broken into. Another nearly died falling off the balcony, etc. etc. etc.

I will say here and often:

Your personal security is and should be your number one concern. Not in a paranoia mode, but in a reasonable, intelligent, responsible kind of way. You are in a strange town with a sign on your back that says "TOURIST". Do not go out alone, leave in the company of a group of strangers, leave electronics, money, jewelry, bags, shopping, leather coats, furs, computers, CBs, Nintendo games, guns or Victoria Secret underwear laying out in plain view or unattended. Do not get out of your car if someone hits you before calling police in plain view of the other driver. Do not be stupid. Do not make threats, play road rage in a city you don't know, run out of gas, flash piles of money, drop gold coins or offer more cleavage to gangs of young men than they've ever seen at home. Do not park in dark areas where yours is the only vehicle. Be reasonable. Be safe. Be real.

If you have things that need secure placement, ask the hotel. This one will help. They are very nice and helpful. The staff will get you whatever else you need to feel comfortable. Talk to them and treat them like they are actually human beings that live on the same earth and have the same hopes, kids and dreams that you do.

Ummmm. Skip the breakfast though. I detest buffets, and even though this one was clean enough (and I did eat it one day) it wasn't worth it to me when there are soooooo many awesome foodie places so near.

It's a very old hotel. Not old enough to be quaint, but Vietnam era old and therefore limping along until the company either junks it or performs major renovation. Ask for a room as far up as possible and on the side away from the train or highway, whichever bothers you more. Neither one bothered us because we hit the sheets exhausted every one of our three nights and nothing bothered us at all.
GOOD POINTS: Hot, Hot, Hot, water! Awesome showers! Staff! Friendly, kind and decent. Beds were comfortable and the location was excellent. Price was nearly 200.00 less than downtown.

Everybody else, GET A GRIP!

My family stayed here due to a local university discount as we were visiting our son this weekend. Previous reviews are correct by stating that it is not in the best of areas. We walked into the first room we were given and the beds were not made and there were no towels at all in the bathroom. We called down to the front desk and they told us to come back down. They gave us another room. The beds were made, but there were still no towels in the bathroom and the room had a funky odor. We just decided to take the room since it was just for one night and it was late. The upholstered chair had stains on it and the carpet was stained and dingy. My husband said he wanted to wrap himself up in plastic! That was our first and last visit. We will gladly pay more for a decent hotel.

Police arresting guys right out front. Left one night early (even though that night was prepaid thru Expedia) as it just wasn't safe to stay there. Hotel is dirty, old and run down. 100 feet from train tracks. Bus station next door. Felt like I needed a military escort to take the dog out to pee!
