So booking a beach place in mid July is not something one does that is looking for a bargain. That said, this property was a fairly good bargain for peak beach season. The property is located on the other side of the Inter-coastal waterway, in a rather large resort area known as Barefoot resort. Its not on the IC as such, but about a mile further down the road (and away from the beach).
The overall property is pretty nice, this property is on the 2nd floor, across the street is a decent sized pool, sort of like a 3 leaf clover design. The condo itself is quite roomy, but had some odd sized rooms, the middle bedroom being almost too small for 2 beds. The master was considerably oversized (probably 2x bigger than it needed to be for the queen size bed, like why didn't they at least put in a king size for the space they had), and in fact the bed seemed smaller than a queen... I actually slept half the time on the couch in the living room. The 2nd largest bedroom was decent size.
Each bedroom had its own full bath. The middle sized bedroom had again though a ridiculously large bathroom, you could have put two bathrooms in the size they had. Being that the 3rd bedroom and bath was a little undersized, one wonders what the architect had in mind with the design of these.
The unit had a large entrance way, columns, decent sized full kitchen, dining area, full size living room. Overall the size and amenities were nice. The thing that bumped my opinion of the property down to only 3 stars was the maintenance of the unit though, things that should have been maintained for a top notch property, but were lacking it seemed in this property.
-torn screens on the patio
-air filter that looked like it had not been replaced in more than 6 months
-only a VCR, no DVD player (really, it is 2013)
-only small CRT based TVs (again... it is 2013, not a single HDTV)
-the beds were noisy and rather uncomfortable
-countertop edging was pulled loose and flapping
-shower heads had such low water pressure you could only get effectively a single stream of water.
-the master shower had a nice sized shower, but it was like a plastic trailer insert (and with tile floors... what were they thinking).
So for the price, and size of the unit, these things could be overlooked. But since folks seemed to be giving glowing reviews, I wanted to make sure future renters go in "eyes wide open" on this one. For me, I'd probably rent again.. so there you go, its just not a Hilton or anything.
