Barefoot Resort & Golf - Dye Course
More attraction details
Attraction details
Owner description: At Barefoot Resort, Pete Dye set out to create something that would linger in the golfer's mind forever.Bordering the natural white sands of the Carolina Bays, this visually stunning design is filled with the infamous pitfalls for wayward shots that have become synonymous with the Dye name. Both beautiful and treacherous, the Dye Course is an experience you won't soon forget. The Dye Course is the only semi-private facility at Barefoot Resort.Pete Dye upholds his reputation of building memorable and challenging golf courses by creating a stunning design filled with his infamous pitfalls to capture errant shots. However, if played from the appropriate set of tees, players of all abilities will be able to navigate the Dye Course. The course is a Par 72, 7,343-yard layout within a gated community on exclusive real only on the exterior perimeter of the property.Pete Dye is famous for his use of native grasses. The fairways are GN-1 Bermuda grass, a hybrid developed by Greg Norman Turf. The approaches are Tifdwarf Bermudagrass, the greens are newly acquired Champion UltraDwarf and the dramatic visual effects are achieved by the Centipede and Zoysia grass roughs.

Service wasn't great and some members don't like visitors! Won't go back soon...lots of other places to golf and are more reasonable $$

“Family Vacation”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Stayed here for a week long vacation just last week, with the family. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. The location is great too-Barefoot Landing Mall, Alligator Adventures, near main hwy to myrtle beach, tanger outlet, plenty of eating places, and grocery stores. If you plan to practice on the putting green bring your own balls!!! The clubhouse/golf shop does not have buckets to buy. We enjoyed the fitness center and we had the pool all too ourselves in the mornings. On one of the days we took the shuttle over to another pool we had access too and it was even nice. The shuttle actually goes to Barefoot Landing and to the beach. The resort/room was gorgeous and spacious, and the view was to the putting green. It only has 4 floors so not a lot of traffic and noise. After hanging out all day that made it relaxing not hearing a bunch of noise. On Wednesday we got a quick midweek service of new towels and toiletries if needed. They also provide pool towels in your room and at the pool clubhouse. We had a great time staying here.

Reviewed 3 August 2014

My son and I played this course and it was not very busy, we were able to go out by ourselves and have a great time. Course was in great condition, staff is extremely helpful and friendly; looking for a great course, I would play this course again any day

“Better than the Norman, not as good as the Love”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Gotta love those huge waste bunkers and you can ground your club in any of the sand. More than a few surprises with the carries that appeared larger than they really were and split fairways.

“Tough course, good time”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Tough course in good shape. Greens a little slow for course of this caliber. Fees reasonable. Limited number of golfers on course made for reasonable 4 hour round. GPS on carts.
