“The most relaxing vacation ever!”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

The Pelican Inn is wonderful! I have been vacationing there since I was little and now take my own kids there along with our extended family. The perfect spot if you want to spend your days on the beach or relaxing in a hammock. Rooms often have a shared bath, so it's perfect for families. The Taylors are gracious hosts and wonderful cooks!

Our stay at The Pelican Inn was a wonderful experience. The marsh views from our room #8 were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and there was good AC. The private bath was roomy. I loved lounging in the hammock on the gazebo overlooking the beach as well as in the hammocks on the porch. The meals were delicious with items such as sweet vidalia onion pie, corn and tomato salad, baked ham, biscuits, and lemon chess pie for lunch and the best bacon, sausage, eggs, and grits for breakfast. A trip to this historic inn is a real treat.

This is a B&B not to be missed. It will remind those who remember the beach before commercialized everything, and bring them back to coming to the beach for the enjoyment of the beach! The inn itself harkens back to an earlier time of simplicity(no TV, radio, etc) with the comfort of A/C and comfortable bedding and probably the best breakfast AND lunch that you can find at any inn or restaurant...Corrine and her daughters have some culinary skills that rival trained chefs! The only down side is the lack of privacy in that some rooms share a bathroom and walls are a little thin with louvred doors to the guest rooms. Nonetheless, you will not find a better inn on the southeastern coast than The Pelican Inn. Any one looking for a true beach experience with excellent food and great accomodations will not be disappointed.

This lovely place has a welcoming and relaxing feel to it. Beautiful inlet views and a spectacular beach to play on. Lots of little nooks with hammocks to read on. Breakfasts and lunches were eagerly awaited for their fresh and Southern tastes. We had been coming to the beach each summer for decades but had never done so at a B&B, we will most definitely be back.

Had some concerns given the bathrooms are shared, but this is a really great place. The food is excellent - simple but prepared perfectly. Service was friendly and pleasant. This is a great stay on a wonderfull beach.

We have been going to Pawleys for over 30 years but always rented houses for stays of a week or more with family/friends. This summer we were late in planning so the option of a last minute, 5 day reservation at the Pelican Inn worked perfectly. We enjoy our privacy so the prospect of communal meals and some shared bathrooms raised concerns. After our stay, all doubts were gone.

Why? Comfort and care. All our needs were attended to and there were so many pleasant surprises. Corinne and staff provided 2 great meals a day... Perfectly made, fresh ingredients, everything delicious. The baking.. Crust on the Vidalia pie, scones, rolls were excellent. The chocolate mousse pie her daughter made on day1 was memorable... And I'm not a dessert fan. Beach and marsh access were perfect with beach chairs and towels provided. The beautiful living room area also offered a nice alternative. We never lacked for a place on 4 different hammocks. Consistent with other reviews, we enjoyed our interactions with the other guests who were thoughtful and interesting.

I can understand how the Inn experience might not be for everyone, but for our family and friend, it was absolutely perfect so we WILL be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Pelican Inn. Corinne and the girls made us feel as if we were at home. The food is fabulous and definitely worth it to stay here. The beach (no crowds) and the marsh were soooo much fun! Hope we can make it back soon!
