Last time we tried to stop here to eat in January, we discovered that the restaurant wasn't open the
day we tried to stop there. It appears to be open less days than it used to be. I think it was only open on weekends when we checked. The food was fine last time, but this time we couldn't eat there.

We had to see it, however we didn't stay for dinner only because we weren't hungry at the time. Has some interesting artifacts and seemed like a very social gathering place as well

I knew that this was an all you can eat buffet but when we arrived there was a queue and it wasn't immediately obvious what you did and how you did it - so I'll prepare you. You pay first, then you get a plate, fill it with food and find a seat in one of the linked buildings. You can then get more mains or desert.
However there is another, much cheaper, option which works well if you have an average appetite - buy the food to take away. The choice is a small or a large plate. We chose the latter which entitled us to 1 meat and 3 veg but with added hush puppies, sauce for rice etc it was more than we could eat.All for 6.75 dollars.
The food was of mixed quality. The vegetables were mostly drowning in liquid and overcooked but the flavour was fine. My ribs were a bit tough but my wife's chicken could not be faulted. Desserts were blancmange type (but you don't get a desert with "to go")
I would go again.
Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday all day and Sunday lunchtime.

Long drives need a pleasant diversion and the Lone Star was just that. The buffet has a good selection of traditional barbecue offerings from beef to delicious fried chicken with all of the wonderful side dishes. Baked mac, tomato casserole, collard greens, and much more. The fun part was the buildings that the restaurant is housed. They are s series of four all filled with items from the 40's 50's and maybe the 60's just like a mercantile.

This started out wonderful but last few visits were very disappointing. Serving line began running low on food and not replacing with fresh items. Staff was kind but certainly not overly friendly. Sure don't know why they aren't what they used to be.
