“Like staying in a museum”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

This is a Bed & Breakfast with three bedrooms for rent. The building and furnishing are just beautiful. The building is packed full of antiques and interesting art objects. It's sort of like staying in a museum. Diane, the lady who runs it, had peanut butter cookies prepared for us when we arrived and had sherry available in the evening. One room in the house has been converted to an antique doll house museum which we found very interesting. There is a pool and plenty of chairs so you can sit out in the evening. The cost is about the same as a motel would be and the breakfast was excellent.

I dont' know where to begin. This is the most amazing, beautiful, super clean and friendly bed and breakfast we have ever stayed at. We stayed the first 3 nights Memorial Day Weekend. The breakfast in the mornings were delicious. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are beautiful. The place is so peaceful and soothing. You will never want to leave. Henry & Diane are just super wonderful, friendly people. We were in Walterboro looking for our daughter a place to live, because she got a teaching job at one of the local schools there. Henry rode us around the town to look at property that weekend. Now what kind of person does that for their guests. They are just wonderful. We came back the next weekend and Henry & Diane had found our daughter another apartment to look at and again he took us around to see the place and introduced us to the owner. My daughter actually rented the apartment. So Henry actually found our daughter a place to live and we did not have to do anything. They have become like family to us and we will be staying at The Hampton House in Walterboro alot in the near future.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful.

Great inn. Nice breakfast and super Innkeepers. Diane is also an artist and will share her work and studio with you as well as her and her husband's large Doll House Collection displayed in the library/sitting room part of the inn. They have a pool and tennis court there too. The Camellia room opens up onto a private porch overlooking the yard.

Lots to do in town, with nature walks a couple of museums and art galleries and an unusual water tower. Close to Charleston and Lake Santee.

Room Tip: Do the Camellia room. Nice private porch. However, it has ONLY a tub, no shower fixings.

Our room was lovely! Loved the antique tub. Really like the cookies that are sitting on hallway table for guests! What I liked most though we're the proprietors, Henry and Diane. I love it when I just feel comfortable and at home wherever I stay when traveling. We were only there one night but felt like they were old friends. Will definitely stay there again.

I recently stayed at Hampton House during a drive from NY to FL. The town is lined with interesting antique shops (Bachelor Hill one not to miss) and restaurants. I arrived the day after Thanksgiving and feeling sad to leave my family so soon after the holiday, the owners heated my T-giving leftovers and presented on a tray, with their own cranberry sauce to boot! My room had a four poster bed, charming grand home interiors, and a plate of freshly baked peanut butter cookies. I'm so glad to know this place exists only 5 minutes off the hustle/bustle of 95. Definitely making this my stop on the journey again.

My husband and I stayed at the Hampton House in October 2013. It was delightful. We felt like we had stepped back into time with a modern conveniences. The spacious room was filled with interesting art and furniture. The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. I woke to the sound of birds chirping outside my bedroom. (Nothing like the high priced motel where we stayed the night before, and heard doors slamming until the wee hours of the morning.) Hampton House is priced right and gave us the quiet restful sleep we needed for our busy weekend. Diane and Henry were wonderful hosts and very welling to share all their wonderful collections including the doll museum.

This is the 4th visit to South Carolina and stay at The Hampton House B&B (hosts Diane and Henry). There just isn't a better place to stay. It's peaceful, conveniently located, beautiful, wonderfully appointed, delicious and Diane and Henry anticipate and cater to all your needs. B&B's do not usually have the amenities Hampton House has either (pools, gardens, tennis courts....). I will go back again, and hopefully, soon!

Room Tip: Favorite is Camellia Room (it has a claw foot sunken tub and the balcony is adjacent to Live Oaks th...
