My husband and I stayed here for one night. Trolley stop is at the inn. Inferior has some updates. Loved the quilt as it feels homey. I do not like colored linens (sheets, towels) as I do not feel they get sanitized. The towels did not smell fresh since they cannot be bleached and were very worn and frayed. No biggie but suggest they replace them with new white linens.

Barbra,
Thank you for posting your review we are aware that our some of our bath towel inventory need to be replaced. We have order new from our supplier on 05-05-14 and were updated to receive them on 6/6/14. The reason we use colored linens like our quilts we want to create more of that homey feel for our guest. I assure you we use a Purex 2 color safe bleach and other detergents for our linens. Audrey and I hope that this will not discourage you from staying with us again and would like to thank you for supporting small businesses like ours.

Came to Deadwood for a weekend in February, first time we stayed at this motel. The motel is close enough to main street a person could walk or the trollies stop right in front of motel every 30 minutes.
The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice, modern and had plenty of hot water.
One thing you get here that you don't get on Main Street is parking close to your room, easy to carry to and from your room and no waiting for valet to bring car around when you leave.

I will be back soon!!

When the motel we were staying at in Deadwood was sold and closed for renovations. We found one similar to what we were looking for. Cedar Wood Inn is economical, within a 1/2 mile walking distance from downtown Deadwood and the rooms are clean. The troller also stops right in front of the motel. They have a nice flat screen TV, coffee maker and hot showers. I would like to see more motels like this in Deadwood. Most want and arm and a leg for your stay, when all your looking for is a bed to sleep in, a hot shower and a cup of coffee in the morning. The only thing I would recommend for your stay, is to plan your meals accordingly. The room does not carry a microwave, however, there are plenty of places to eat. You just need to pay attention to their hours of operation. Since Deadwood is open 24/7, year round.

Room Tip: We like the 1st floor rooms, cause we don't like steps, there are two levels to this motel.

This is another locally owned motel that really stands out. The property is very clean and well maintained, it is obvious that the owners really care. The furnishings are a little dated, but the linens are clean and the mattresses are comfortable. The location is great, a short trolley ride to the main drag, but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Save your money, pass on the expensive chains and stay here.

Over the summer, we were on our Motorcycle trip and we stayed 2 nights at the Cedar Wood Inn in Deadwood, SD. Gordon & Audrey, they owners, are very sweet and so welcoming. They love great riders and have a lot of us during the famous Sturgis rally. We loved these guys and the place is so charming. The room we had was small but very clean and perfect for our needs. They have suites and bigger rooms as well as well. We promised to go back again. Gordon and Audrey are the 2nd generation owners of the Cedar Wood Inn and they purchased this lovely place in 1996. They took great pride and have spent countless hours renovating every unit themselves.

Next time we go – we would love to stay more than 2 days. It’s also a walking distance form town so VERY convenient. Don’t forget to eat at the Midnight Star, Kevin Costner restaurant!

We spent one night here. Very clean, friendly staff. Bed was fine and a good one night stop, Breakfast was really just rolls and coffee. A little out of town, but easy by car. Trolley stops in front since parking can be a problem downtown. Overall, a good stay.
