We stayed at The Lodge Sept. 14 and 15. What a beautiful hotel. We came down for the Deadwood Jam. Not a problem getting back and forth to Deadwood. The trolley came up every hour. The driver did tell us that the #150 is the only trolley that goes up to the Lodge. We always took a taxi back because we just did not want to wait for the trolley all the time. It was about a $7.00 ride but we did not mind.
One thing we really liked was the fact that you did not have to walk through the large casino to get to your rooms. The elevators are a little slow but you get to meet people while you wait. They have a nice lobby area with coffee and tea available at all times. Also have a business area with two computers to use. Wi-Fi is also available in the rooms. We stayed in a king size room - includes a frig – which we always like to have. The rooms are gorgeous – there were comfortable leather chairs in the room – the view was very nice. I thought the beds were very comfortable. Tons of pillows. Next time we will ask for a balcony because we enjoy sitting outside but that would not keep us from staying again if we could not get one. We just enjoyed the whole place. The people working at the desk were so nice and the waitress in the Deadwood Grille was fantastic – wish I could remember her name – she was fun and so nice. We had breakfast – I had a Ham and Cheese Omelet – it was very good and huge. They used swiss cheese – excellent. Fried potatoes and bread – my husband had Eggs Benedict – very good. I also had a Bellini – goes great with breakfast- it is champagne with peach puree – wonderful!!!
We enjoyed the casino too – it was a very big casino – plenty of machines. The waitresses were always coming around. I believe they had an area for smoking customers but could not smell any smoke. It was nice to be at the Jam but felt good to come back a quiet hotel. At least we did not hear any noise during our stay. The hotel was full but you would never have known it – plenty of parking. Hopefully we can stay again next year for the Deadwood Jam – I felt the prices were comparable to the other hotels for that event – it was a great weekend.
