“Great location and sleep”
Reviewed 8 July 2013 via mobile

The hotel is in a great location on main st. Our room was very clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable.we requested nonsmoking and that is what we received. We could not hear any noise from the casino or streets.

Loved our hotel. We wanted one downtown and it was perfect. It fit my top criteria of rooms I stay in, CLEAN. The moment we walked in the hotel it was fresh and clean smelling. Our room was 301, facing main street. The windows have ledges on them so I felt like Alma Garret (from the HBO show) looking out and watching all of the action! The whole town is nothing but super friendly people. You must spend a night watching Yancy sing at the Buffalo.

Being that this was our first visit to Deadwood we wanted to stay in an older hotel with a bit of history and booked Hickok's online from photos.

When we arrived we saw that it was in a perfect location, on the main street and with nice views of the mountains and the town.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and although parking was down the street, we rarely needed our car anyways.

The room (we got a king sized bed) was tiny, but nice decor, clean and lovely. Fireplace, microwave, fridge, tv-pretty much everything we needed! Both the bedroom and bathroom had enormous windows so take in the views which we loved, but sadly they didnt open for fresh air.

The bathroom was as big as the room, which suited me just fine! and featured a claw foot tub, which i put to good use and loved.

Although we loved the hotel, there were definitely less expensive places, very close by that would have been just as good, for the amount of time we spent in our room we definitely paid too much...personal preference

Room Tip: top floor for better views-beware of elevator buttons, we got shocked every single time!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel! We definitely appreciate any and all feedback.

We strive to make your make your stay the best experience for the best value. I do believe we have the best hotel staff in order to accomplish that(not biased at all:)). It truly is historic charm meets modern day here at Hickok's! We are very excited you enjoyed your stay with us and I agree the claw foot tub is the best!

We hope to see you again on your next visit through Deadwood and hopefully you get to stay a little longer!

We stayed just in town over night. Rooms are a bit tight but super comfy, renovated, but still with old-western decoration. Nice and clean. Great location right downtown, where you can just walk anywhere from there and surrounded by other great casinos, bars, and places to eat.

We stayed here on the same night that they had a great hail storm with quarter sized hail. During the middle of the storm the fire alarm went off at approximately 9 pm. Three hours later, even though the fire department had cleared the hotel, the alarm was going off with a super loud claxton and pulsating strobe lights. The whole system gave me a super headache.

The hotel room, conversely, was great. Beautifully decorated in period type pieces and was very clean upon check-in. The front desk clerk Peggy was very helpful and kind. She gave us our AAA discount even though we forgot to ask for it.

The bed was very comfortable, the towels substantial. The bed pillows were super sized and sort of hard. After the storm the bathroom was trashed from ceiling debris.

Would I stay here again, yes if the weather did not predict any violent storms.

Room Tip: Parking is located through city run lots. Make sure that you use the loading and unloading areas to...

We stayed here as part of a bus trip from Southern MN in Feb 2013, the staf went out of the way to make us comfortable, and took care of all our needs quickly. We had a small issue with an item in our room and it was resolved in 15 minutes or less. The room was excellent for our needs and we enjoyed being able to look out on Main Street.

Room Tip: ASk for non smoking they are on third floor

We loved being right off the main street in town. The rooms were quiet and very clean. The room itself was a little small, but the bathroom was HUGE! Loved the 1800's decor/furnishings. Staff was very polite. Hope to stay there again.
