We stayed here while visiting the sites in Deadwood and beyond. The hotel is at the far end of Main Street in Deadwood which sounds inconvient but is not due to things being in close walking range and a trolley stops near the hotel ($1). The hotel rooms along with the hotel looked new and was very clean. Our room had a marble shower and vanity. The room was very well appointed with extras given in the bathroom and a nice lap desk for the main room. There are three "mock" gun fights that takes place on Main St. and one takes place right outside the Hampton Inn. We were given a buy one get one free breakfast buffet coupon (the hotel has the Four Aces Casino attached) and they also have a deluxe contiental breakfast (eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc.). The Four Aces Casino has a breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet - we ate at all three and the food was great. I had my in-laws sign up for the players club card for the casino and we all received 10% off our meals with our cards, plus my in-laws got their $5.99 lunch for $1.99 because of their card and being seniors. The casino was liberal with their free beer and wine. The Hampton also provides free cookies in the evening and if you are in a hurry for breakfast they have breakfast in a bag for those on the go. My only complaint is that you have to park on the opposite side of the street (parking can also be used for those just visiting the casino) and you may have trouble finding parking or you had to do valet parking ($5 - for entire stay).

We were there Oct. 11 & 12 2004 - We had a really nice room on the 2nd floor. Marble Bathroom, Refrigerator, Microwave, TV, 2 beds. (We didn't realize it would be so nice.) They are situated at the end of the main strip, so everything is still in walking distance-but it seemed a little quieter. They have valet service. Their parking lot is across the street and winds down about a block, it seemed to be the only inconvenient thing, but most hotels there seemed to have the same parking situation. They served a continental breakfast every morning which was really like a mini buffet - and it was good. The staff was very helpful at suggesting good places to dine, where to go, what to see. We would definitely recommend/visit again.

Family of 5 stayed here in July, 2004 as part of a cross-country trip. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this hotel. I knew that Deadwood had become a very touristy destination and that the hotel was part of a casino. I was just hoping for a place we could lay our heads for the night that would be a little different from the usual highway hotels. We happened to stay here on a Saturday night and arrived sort of late in the evening after driving all day. The town was hopping! There was no parking to be found, but the hotel offered valet parking for a small charge. As soon as I walked up to the front desk and gave my name, the desk clerk seemed to know all about us! She knew without looking at anything where we were from and that we had two king rooms reserved. Each room came with a little packet with coupons, etc and there was a casino card with my name on it! (which I didn't get a chance to test out). We needed a roll-away bed for one of the rooms and it was delivered promptly and for no charge. Although we always stay in non-smoking rooms, I had made these reservations at the last minute after a change in plans, and there were no non-smoking rooms available. Since this was a casino, which seem to attract chain smokers, I expected the smoking rooms to be pretty foul. But they didn't reek! In fact, they smelled 100% less smokey than the non-smoking rooms we had encountered in Carlsbad, NM. Everything about the room was nicer than the usual Hampton Inn. The soaps and complimentary toiletries were higher quality. The bathroom had very nice marble or stone of some kind around the tub. There were FIVE big pillows on the bed. There was supposed to be wireless Internet access in the rooms but we couldn't get it to work. But there was an ethernet line that was fast and free and worked just fine. The complimentary breakfast had thestandard selections, but everything was fresh and there were two attendants keeping everything replenished. Even though breakfast was supposed to end at 10 a.m. they let in some people who came late and didn't try to rush them. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants to walk to in Deadwood. Mt. Rushmore is about 45 minutes away by car. We were very pleasantly surprised at the Hampton Inn in Deadwood and would not hesitate to stay here again if we're ever back in the area.
