The Deadwood Mountain Grand is actually built into the mountain and therefore the layout is a little strange. You enter through the casino and have to walk through it in order to take an elevator up to the lobby, and then walk to a second elevator bank that takes you to the rooms. The rooms are large, modern and nicely appointed as are the bathrooms. The location is very central to the historic main street. Even though its a casino hotel, the rooms are very quiet since they are literally up the mountain. There is cold water, fruit, coffee and tea at all times in the lobby area and the staff we met were very pleasant. Breakfast is not included but there is a restaurant on site. Other than the schlep to get to our rooms and then to check out with all our things and maneuver first through the "lobby" area and then through the casino, our one-night stay was very pleasant. Unfortunately, we stayed over on a Monday night and were not aware that nothing goes on on Monday nights in Deadwood! The famous shoot-outs and the shows re-creating famous events that happened there, just don't happen on Monday nights!
