This was my first trip to SD and my husband and I wanted to see and experience Deadwood for the History, not the gambling, so when checking out hotels, I was looking for something more historical and due to my husband's bad knees needed something close to main street. We stayed at the Branch house, the old ice house, loved the room. however, the air conditioning wasnt working. We got FAST response! and the hotel made sure we were happy. YES WE WERE! Thank you to the management and staff for treating us so well. We will be staying there again and looking forward to checking out the other rooms. We have already told all our friends that if they go to Deadwood they need to stay at the CELEBRITY!
Excellent staff and service!

Room Tip: Front rooms at Branch house have more traffic noise if it is a busy time. Beds and pillows are a bit to hard for me, bathroom lighting a bit low for what I need to apply makeup(over 50s issue)

Thank you for your excellent reference on trip adviser and to your friends. Many times unforeseen things happen to the mechanical operations of a building and you were
lucky enough to experience one of those days. The Branch House is an old ice house that was refurbished into a hotel and has 12' thick walls and ceilings which does help with the heating and air conditioning. We were glad to accommodation you with fans to help cool the room. We hope you enjoyed many of the historical buildings and museums of our fine town. I often say Deadwood is a Legend that refuses to die and it is a great town with proof of all our history. Next time your in Deadwood try a different room and maybe spend some time on our outdoor deck catching some sun. Thank you again, The Celebrity Hotel.

We stayed in Rm. 211. Very nice. Heated towel rack, steam in shower. Love the casino. It's 100 steps from the room. All the employess are very nice. Breakfast was adequate. Not much of a view out the window but this didn't matter.

Yes we agree that steam sauna shower in 211 is worth every penny. We are working on our Breakfast bar but since we have no restaurant area or kitchen it is a little difficult on what you can serve. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again.

My wife and I stayed in Deadwood for our third trip to the Black Hills June 6th-8th 2014 and decided to try the Celebrity Hotel. We are so glad we did!!! We will never go anywhere else. We will be back in a year so save room 208 for us.
All the staff were so very helpful and friendly. From the moment we pulled into the lot and until we checked out we felt at home.
Dollar bottles on the casino floor was hard to pass up for drinks since a round of drinks everywhere else was $16-$20 a round. We learned to save our money and play and stay only at the Celebrity.

Tim & Linda

Room Tip: If you choose a room in the front of the building you may get some road noise or bar closing noise later at night. To block this out just turn the air conditioner fan on and let run all night. This also keeps the air conditioner from clicking on and off all night long.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us in one of our Suites. We have a variety of rooms here at the Celebrity and you are always invited to try out a new one or inspect others for your next stay. We hope you were able to enjoy the deck while you were here as well. The gaming coupons and the cheap beers are always here at the Celebrity to help our Guest enjoy their stay. Waiting to see you next time. The Celebrity Hotel

We stayed one night in the Branch House, room 216. The room was quiet and convenient to Main Street and the Deadwood Mountain Grand where we attended a concert.

We liked the brick walls and mission style furniture. The layout of the room was nice for two separate sleepers.

The only aspect of our stay that was less than expected was the sofa bed in the living room. It probably merits replacing. The sofa itself is so worn one couldn't sleep on it without rolling off onto the floor. When folded out the mattress was thin and the support pieces are coming apart from the frame. The pillowcase and sheets had an unpleasant odor as if perhaps they haven't been changed. My daughter ended up putting the couch cushions on top of the mattress to sleep. I believe a couple trying to use this bed would pass a very uncomfortable night indeed.

To be fair, we didn't give the staff an opportunity to provide new bedding. It was late and I thought it might take a long time for someone to come from the main building to assist.

If the sofa had been in better repair and the bedding fresher (especially the pillowcase) I wound have given a four star rating.

Thank you for your response on Trip Ad-visor. We listen to the reviews that come to us through Trip Advisor. We like to know where we can improve and sometimes, things our guest see we do not. We are sorry you spent sleepless night at the Branch House. The owners were contacted about the hide a bed and are currently looking for a new one. We strive to keep everything fresh and clean for our guest, however, sometimes the hide a beds are not used for awhile, which would create the musty smell. Our staff would have gladly come over to change the sheets out right away at any time of day.. Our housekeeping staff has been instructed to change the sheets on the hide a beds at least weekly if they are used or not. We are very sorry for your sleepless night but are very glad you called our attention to it. Thank you. The Celebrity Hotel.
