The Deadwood Chamber and information center is now in an amazing new building at the south end of Main street. You can’t miss it. Lots of parking. You can catch the trolley there also. Staff friendly and helpful.

This new Welcome Centre opened in the summer of 2017. The location of the Chamber of Commerce/Visitors Bureau is incorrect on the map. The building is at 501 Main St. in a large parking lot where Highway 14 and Main Street cross. It is near Tin Lizzie’s-Hampton and a large “Welcome to Deadwood” sign. The trolley also stops in the parking lot. The building is conveniently located for visitors just arriving in town. There are exhibits and a lot of information about Deadwood and the Black Hills. The other visitor centre is downtown in an old train station.

Now don't get me wrong the other visitor centre is still interesting but this one is better. First thing is it has free parking. We parked here. Went inside for information then walked to main street. The lady inside was really helpful and gave us some useful flyers. Thing is even if she'd been horrible we wouldn't have minded as it's FREE PARKING. This centre is fairly new and is in the North end of town so ignore the map on here (unless it's been updated). Remember. FREE PARKING

First off, this has moved from the south end of town, to the north end of town on US 85/14. It is brand new this year, has free parking for Deadwood visitors, a trolley stop and a lot of information about Deadwood and some nice displays. The trolley and runs all day until about 10PM in the evening and covers all of Deadwood with lots of stops including all the museums and other major attractions. Each time you get on it cost only $1 no matter how far you ride.

The visitor centre was very well appointed and the people so friendly and helpful, which was very useful as our Titan tour only stopped at Deadwood for an hour. It was so good to visit this famous old town, even though I gather that it has burnt down once or twice since the 'good old days.' The saloon claiming to be where Wild Bill bit the dust over cards was well worth seeing and there was another bar on main street which had a real old west feel, to it. Although only a small town it is certainly worth a visit and it has plenty of nice gift shops. Such a pity that the Arrow Tour coach was not allowed to visit Boot Hill because of it's narrow access roads.
