“Great Campsites and Trail Access”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Camp sites are large enough for 36' fifth wheel campers. Plenty of parking for trailers that hauled motorcycles, ATV, etc.
Great access to riding trails.
The local store as any items you may need and what they don't have is a 5 minute drive away.
The trail maps they provided are very good and have more information than the ones provided in the mail.
Very friendly people.
Showers and toilets are kept clean.
Cabins are very spacious and clean.
Highly recommend, we had a group of about 40 and they handled us with no problems.

Tent site was well manicured and private. Our tent site had a very nice picnic table and fire pit. We were close to the shower house and restaurant where firewood and ice may be purchased. The grounds were clean and so was the shower house. The location was easy to find and away from the tourist congestion in Deadwood. We rented a 4 seater ATV on site to take our boys out on the trails one of the mornings we stayed and this was a bonus for our family. The trail system access is on site, so if you are visiting the hills with dirt bikes or ATV's this is the perfect location! The staff at both the Lodge and the ATV rental were extremely friendly. There was a 50th Birthday party taking place during our stay and there was live music which we enjoyed. We really enjoyed our tent camping at Mystic Hills and will be back to enjoy many more nights.

Beautiful, wilderness location. Peaceful with beautiful stars and woods. We tent camped. Very cheap for site. Bathrooms and showers very clean and spacious. Only issue was that place rents out four wheelers also, so the sound of them broke the silence and peacefulness in the mornings and afternoons. I'm a nature person so I'm not a big fan of motors in the woods. However, other than that the place was great. Staff very friendly.

If you are looking for a place that is tucked away, a great value, clean, family friendly, this the place to be. Staff was great with giving ideas on places to visit and they were all friendly. Our lodge room was extremely clean and very comfortable for our family. We took advantage of the fire pit a couple of nights and the kids loved playing with the cats and dogs. A bonus is that my son got to take a short atv ride with one of the staff. He was in seventh heaven! I do not have a bad thing to say. We are already talking of coming back next summer to stay!

Nearly every other non-government campground in the Black Hills is on a major highway. This site is far enough off US 385 that passing traffic noise isn't a problem and it's in the woods, so the "getting away" factor is certainly there.

Pros: Easy to get to, not on the highway, restaurant on-site, washrooms are new and centrally-located, ATV rentals on-site, calling to make a reservation was easy, the campground itself is centrally-located for all Black Hills attractions (pretty much no more than one hour from anything important)

Cons: There are ATVs coming and going from 6 a.m. to midnight every day and people are not considerate about idling/revving/speeding, many sites are very close together so you had better like your neighbors, there is no dog-free camping area, the tent camping is pathetic, with no pads or designated sites, and the washroom was not always kept clean

Room Tip: Camp on the same side of the road as the lodge for more shade and better seclusion. Camp Sites 1-5...

I and my bride of 50 years, our two sons and their children, our grand-children, my brother and sister spend six nights using three cabins and a camping spot. We had a very enjoyable anniversary and everyone had just a great time. We did some 4-wheeling and site seeing along with just relaxing and enjoying the camp. We had a couple of cook-outs with additional friends from the Rapid City area which really added to the stay. Had a couple of leisure breakfasts at the lodge which were very good. We just had a super six nights and days and will do it again. I recommend Mystic Hills Hideaway to anyone wanting a great place to stay or camp to enjoy the Black Hills area.

Room Tip: Great cabins and camp ground with full service lodge!!

campsites were fine, shower house was very clean, but atv's went until late at night. Lots of traffic on road and dust from the traffic. Very limited cell phone and wifi service. Liked that the campground was among the trees.
