Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed in 413 and really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean an well appointed. Beds were comfortable and ac was adequate. Great views and location. Saw deer on hill behind hotel every night. Staff were friendly and enjoyable. Shopping was fun but a little warm in summer. Did not eat in restaurant so unsure there. Would stay again if I ever get a chance.

We planned our trip around a rock concert at the Mountain Grand and were so happy to find this gem on Trip Advisor. (Expedia, hotels.com, Kayak didn't pull this hotel up) We got a an awesome room at a very reasonable price. It was tucked back in the farthest corner of the hotel which we loved. Felt like we had the floor to ourselves. We'd never been on an old-school elevator but got the hang of it pretty fast. The owners were great. We really didn't want to leave; part of the reason could've been that we got engaged that weekend too! :) We will celebrate that anniversary again, hopefully in the same room. :D

Room Tip: We loved room 413!

We stayed at Deadwood Dicks over the 4th of July.
Mary and David the owners were very nice and helpful. The staff is fantastic one of their housekeeping staff even washed and dried a pair of my husband's golf shorts. He left them in the sink to soak(blood on them) when we returned to our room they were clear and dry ! What incredible service.
The cafe downstairs has great food good selection and very friendly staff.
The elevator is an experience not to be missed.
The hotel is historical and I believe that if you are staying in a town that is an historical landmark really stay there! Fancy hotels and casinos do not give you the total experience.
The location is perfect, as is the huge antique and collectible store on the main floor .

If you are staying in the Deadwood area ( a must see) please give Deadwood Dicks a try . We enjoyed it immensely .
Please say "hello" to Mary and David for us.

Room Tip: Just please remember that you can't swing a cat no animals were harmed while writing this revie...

You cannot visit Deadwood and not stay at Deadwood Dick's. Unfortunately we only managed to stay just one night on our way from Cody to Rapid City - so glad we did! It is unique, quirky, historic - like no other hotel we have ever stayed in anyway in the world. Reception is right in the middle of an antiques emporium and there is a saloon, a gaming hall, bar, restaurant and a gift shop - quite amazing. The hotel décor is an eclectic mix of all sorts, but lots of period features. The room on the fourth floor was clean and extremely comfortable and accessed via a turn of the 20th century lift which was wonderful . Altogether, a one off experience - wish we could have stayed longer. Had to be on the road by 6am the next morning so didn't get a chance to sample the breakfast - more's the pity.

Deadwood Dick's Saloon, Lodging, Gaming Hall and Antique Mall is one of the most unique lodging experiences in the Black Hills. Located in a hundred year old historic warehouse building, the antiques surround slot machines and a bar and restaurant. Some 35 antique dealers cover three floors with interesting collectibles, memorabilia and furniture.

Our room on the 4th floor had a great view of downtown Deadwood, was clean and very period appropriate, had an air conditioning unit, and the pillowiest Queen mattress -it was great. We loved using the 1902 Otis elevator to access the 4th floor -the historic touch that means so much!

You could spend all day looking at the antiques here!!

The owner & staff were very friendly and accomodating.

Dick's also serves breakfast & offers guests $2 off their breakfast, but we didn't try it so I can't review it, (we couldn't resist heading across the street in the morning to one of our favorite breakfast haunts -Lee Street Station).

When you are staying, if you check into Deadwood Dick's on Facebook and show the bartender your post -he'll give you a little gift :)

The rates beat almost all downtown Deadwood room rates.

Room Tip: Room 406 had a pillowy Queen mattress and a great view of downtown Deadwood. The window opens, too...

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Tripadvisor. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, shopping in the Antique Mall and the "pillowy" bed!! Most of our rooms do have great views of Deadwood and we try to ensure our rates are competitive if not less expensive for the Downtown area! So sorry you did not stay for breakfast and meet our friendly restaurant staff. Hopefully you will use your discount on our breakfast next time you travels bring you to Deadwood! Once again, we truly appreciate your honest review and we will be seeing you in the future! Cheers!

I stayed in Deadwood Dick's for two nights in early June when I came through to run the Mickelson Trail Marathon. You cannot beat the location or the price, and I thought the style of this old hotel really fit the historical setting. Wild Bill Hickok stands guard outside the saloon (and rests in Mt. Moriah Cemetery on the bluff above). If you are looking for new and fancy, stay somewhere else. If setting and character are more important, stay here. Plenty to do and look at in this combination hotel/saloon/restaurant/antique store. I had a beer and a nice visit with the owners, and a couple of long conversations with the very helpful staff. The restaurant and saloon, operated by a young man named Ryan, are first class. Excellent burgers and breakfast. I hope to return soon.

We really enjoyed our three nights in early June 2014 at Deadwood Dick's. We wanted to stay someplace with character and a good location-- and this was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful and we loved our room. The ONLY negative was the lack of an air conditioning unit, but I understand that is being rectified soon. We would certainly stay again and I will enjoy the stuff I bought at the antique store here forever!
Thanks!
