As with other reviews, there's very little to 'moan' about here. If you're looking for a great short break venue, the owners have got it just right!. They're charming, friendly, professional and very attentive. Our family stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage, which was self-contained and ideal for what we wanted, allowing us to prepare our own meals as necessary and chill-out. Other members of our family stayed in the main house and 'raved' about the rooms and breakfasts! The decor throughout 'Orchards' provides a special kind of ambience, with various decorative 'touches' .... hence the 'quirkiness', but all in best possible taste! As someone already mentioned, don't expect 'perfection' with en-suites facilities, as large rambling properties such as this have their own special 'charm'. You can't go far wrong by staying here.

Room Tip: If you have children, then the COTTAGE is a good option.

Stayed at Orchard Retreat, as we were at a wedding in the area. The B&B is in a lovely location in the countryside. I totally agree with the last 5* review, including friendly owner, nice breakfast and very quirky house. I would say the house interior is rather rustic and oozes character. Will hope to stay again if we are in the area again. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The en-suite room is very nice and spacious, and overlooks the quaint garden

This b and b is quite special. The building is Victorian and as such is an older building with lovely features and grand old staircase and old plumbing. We love old and quaint, so it was perfect for us but do not expect this to be an ultra modern building with perfect finishing and flashy en-suites (although the en-suite was lovely and spacious and very pretty - it just wasn't glitzy modern and perfect finishes). The decoration is in keeping with the building and old (showing wear and everyday use and enjoyment of people who have lived there) but lovely. There are lots of interesting things in the rooms and hallways e.g. an old phone, and two amazing big horse pieces, and a dessert oven, and huge old mirrors. This house is welcoming and warm and like something out of a children's book where amazing adventures happen. There's also an extra-ordinary tree house close to the front door!!!

The bed was the most comfortable I have ever used outside of my own home (and huge) and the room was massive and overlooking a wonderful garden. Everything was very clean and in good order and there was lots of choice of tea, coffee, etc... to drink in the room. In the en suite was bottles of bubble bath and hand cream and it was very homely. Even on the mantle piece there were books to read if you wanted to curl up with a novel.

The breakfast was fantastic and really big with cereals and cooked food and toast - with a huge array of jams / honey / etc... The breakfast room is wonderful to sit in and look out of the stunning picture window.

The hosts could not make you feel more welcome and nothing was too much trouble. So friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a homely setting, in a lovely garden with good food and clean comfortable beds. However, please remember that it is wonderful but old and not ultra modern.
