“Off the beaten (tourist) track”
Reviewed 8 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

My first trip to Morocco, won't be my last. Enjoyed the people and their food. Also managed to survive a week without drinking beer or wine (my choice). Large roomy apartment on three floors. Satellite TV in French or English (Arab Film Channels), roomy kitchen with downstairs a hamman, weather was a little disappointing (we did come early in the season and knew the possible risks).
However the food culture was well worth it! Complex is right next door to a traditional working fishing village with fishing boats leaving at 6am returning at around lunchtime. You can buy the fish or Calamari (ask Rashid, the pool guy to help) at Euro 10 per kilo. A little fish cleaning and a BBQ are well worth the challenge. There is a little shop in the complex where they sell the most divine of Moroccan bread at 15 Eurocents (17 US$ cents). The Complex is 27 km from Agadir which translates to 30 minutes by car. The next village (direction Agadir) hosts one of the best restaurants in the region at the very affordable prices, starters at Euro 4-7, main courses Euro 8-14. A wide selection of pastries are made onsite and are well worth trying!

Agadir has an amazing Souk but do not go if you are not prepared to negotiate and haggle over the price (You would need to negotiate down by 25-30% minimum).
"Beware" of a very slick operator running his spice shop in the fruit and vegetable section of the market. His prices are four to five times what they should be. However, I did thoroughly enjoy his show and explanations of each herb and spice.... as well as the mint tea offered. The main souk offers a wide variety of items for sale, all well within acceptability.

If you want a hotel environment, this is not for you. However, if you want to experience rural life and a bit of peace and traquility....... The apartment was also very, very affordable and Zakaria, the Paris-based owner bent over backwards to help us. Drive to airport about one hour. Zakaria's cousin runs a car rental company. He was waiting for us at the airport and took us to the apartment (real service). The car rental was also very reasonable at Euro 23 per day.

If you want to try something a little different, go for it!
