Description: Experience our award-winning wines in a fun and relaxed setting in the heart of the Black Hills. Find us three miles northwest of Hill City on Highway 385, just a few miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial. We’re Hill City’s only working winery and Sandi Vojta, our fifth generation winemaker, handcrafts each wine, often using old family recipes, just a few steps from our Tasting Room. Start your Prairie Berry Winery experience with a free wine tasting of up to five of our award-winning wines, including our Anna Pesä handcrafted traditional European wines, at our Tasting Bars. We produce a variety of wines in styles for every palate – from crisp, dry wines and robust, oak-aged reds to sweet, fruity varieties. Our Kitchen offers housemade menu items including gluten-free, vegetarian and kids’ options. Menu selections pair perfectly with our wines, vary with the season and many of our ingredients are sourced locally. Enjoy a meal on our patio with our beautiful views of Black Elk Peak (formerly Harney Peak). Our brewery, Miner Brewing Company, is located next door.

“Free wine and beer tasting”

This place was great and wish we would have found it before we went to another place that charged to sample their wine. Friendly servers and great wines. Love the names.

“Great wine, good service”
Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

The wine is pretty amazing. Mostly sweet wines, which is perfect for us. The staff was very friendly and knowledge. It was a little pricey, but I didn't expect any less of most Black Hills tourist spots.

“Fun little restaurant; Great wine tasting!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We stopped in Hill City at the Prairie Berry Winery last weekend during our trip to the Hills. We are not big wine drinkers, but we liked the Rhubarb wine and wanted to spend some time at the winery. The little restaurant is very nice; it has a limited menu, but some interesting things that we could try. I don't think that my kids would like it, it is geared more towards an adult palate (I'd recommend checking the online menu before taking the kids). I had the Muffaletta sandwich while my wife had the Barbecue Chicken pizza. Very large, we had left overs, but they were very accommodating and had a to-go box for us. Very tasty; the patio is very relaxing on a beautiful Friday afternoon. We then went to the tasting bar where the server talked with us about our likes and what we wanted to try. She made suggestions and introduced us to some wines that we had not thought of. There are lots of fun things to buy in the shop including the wines. We ended up buying a case!! We'll give some as gifts, but I think that we'll enjoy many of the selections (especially if you like sweeter wines). It was a great way to spend a relaxing and somewhat romantic afternoon.

“Best place for lunch or an early dinner”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

After tasting the wines, you can order some delicious snacks and lunch type foods right in the wine store, to be enjoyed on the patio (if you don't mind the flies! :)) It was the best meal we had in the area -- fresh and tasty. We bought 5 bottles of the wine too, though we didn't care as much for their sweet signature wine, (which I can't name on Trip Advisor!) made with rhubarb. They also sell artisan cheeses and salamis, which my husband stocked up on, to go along with the wine, of course!

“Wine Tasting up to 5 samples for FREE”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We did not eat in the restaurant, but did partake in the wine tasting. They have quite a few to choose from, but allow up to 5 samples for free. The server was funny, knowledgable on the history of Prairie Berry Winery and the wine making process. They give discounts with quanity, and you can mix and match to get to each discount level. I would recommend this particular winery, because it is women owned and she is the vinter. The owner only uses quality fruits, and if there is a year that she is not happy with quality of the fruits, she will not make it that year. Loved Gold Digger and Buffalo Berry. Cheers!
