The staff was wonderful. The owners and caretakers are really friendly and helpful. We stayed there in July for 6 nights and I found it the perfect place to return to after a day of touring the Black Hills attractions. The pool was a great place for the kids to cool off and have some fun. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. We did stay in a cabin for 3 nights (availability) and they were fantastic as well, great for bigger families. It is right near a couple Wineries that have surprisingly good wine. This lodge is located on the highway, which was a concern at first but I barely noticed. From the lodge, it seemed like we were never very far from our destination for the day. Perfect location in the heart of the Black Hills. I will definitely stay here on future family vacations to the Black Hills.

Clean and comfortable motel that is a bit outside of Hill City. Panicked a little when I saw a large group of teenagers entering the room next to ours. Either they were very quiet or the a/c drowned out noise well. Room doors open right onto the highway--might be a concern for a single woman; there is a deadbolt as well as a locking door handle. Managed by a nice couple who takes great care of the place. Average continental breakfast. Tiny pool--room for maybe 3 people at a time. Firm mattress but lumpy pillows.

We stayed here last week. Our overall experience was great. The room was spotless, we had planned to rent a cabin, but the dates weren't avaliable, we could stay in a room for three days and then move into a cabin. We decided to stay in the room for our full stay. We did not regret our decision, it was handy to the swimming pool and playground, Grandpa didn't have so far to take the 8 yr old granddaughter. The only thing we did not care for was the tiny bathroom, it had a rather small stall shower and the stool in a 5'x5' room. The manager's were very nice, right there if you had a problem. The deck was very nice, the large patio deck was great, nice table's, chair's and 2 gas grill's. Across the st is a nice DQ sort of place, good burger's and ice cream, also mini golf. I think you will like the MountainView, just don't expect a real fancy spa hotel, just a clean homey place.

We stayed in one of the cabins and had a wonderful time. The interior was exactly as advertised - very clean and comfortable. The folks that run the place were relaxed and lovely. The only negative thing was that the property is located directly on a busy roadway so there is always the sound of traffic going by. The cabins are tucked up in a wooded area behind the 'lodge', which is more like a hotel, but they are all right next to one another. It took a minute to get over this and it did not distract from the overall enjoyment of the property and the location. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

It was welcome to stay somewhere so clean for the price. We stayed in the motel and there was a modest continental breakfast that worked just fine for us the next day. Close to Mount Rushmore too. Staff was pleasant. If some of the motels around Rapid City scare you and you are looking for a safe and affordable option, this is a great choice!

We began our stay here on July 31st and checked out on August 8th. The room we were in had 2 queen beds & a twin, which was perfect! The couple who owns this lodge also run it themselves and are super nice people. The room is spotless and very quiet--we heard no noise even from the highway. The "deck" is a great place to eat breakfast, unwind, and hang out. The pool isn't very big, and there is no hot tub, but it's clean and well taken care of, and warm! The WiFi isn't the best if you try to pick it up in your room, but you're always welcome to sit downstairs either in the office (where there is also a computer for use) or outside and use the WiFi anytime, day or night. The breakfast isn't much, but it's fresh and always well-stocked. The price was great, even during the Sturgis rally.

There's also a little ice cream & hamburger place across the street, as well as mini golf. This was truly a wonderful place and I would return anytime!

Recently spent three nights here during a a tour of the area. Rooms were clean and quiet. We had a double (2 queens) and though it was kinda tight we squeezed a pack and play in the room (provided by hotel). The bathroom was tiny and there was no tub. A small kitchenette area (no burners), table and microwave with dishes. It was remarkably quiet for a motel. There was a balcony area and two grills for people who want to cook. There is also a pool but it is quite small. A continental breakfast was also provided. Staff was friendly.
