“Best Meal in SD, Hands Down!”
Reviewed 31 July 2008

We ate dinner there and was planning on the Filet, as we heard it was a special.... it is the entire menu! But like I always say, do one thing and do it right, and the world will beat a path to your door. We arrived at 7:45 pm on Wednesday, and there was still a 45 minte wait. Worth every second. The filet was the best meal we have had in SD, hands down!

“Worth Waiting For”
Reviewed 19 July 2008

Went there on a Tuesday evening, and even though we had to wait an hour, we all liked it so much (even our 12 and 7 year olds) that we went back again on Thursday evening. As others have said, the evening menu is just steak (or a hot dog for the kids), baked potato, texas toast and lettuce wedge with ranch dressing. None of which is that great, but collectively and for the price, it is a good deal. Plus, they fill the wine glasses to the top rim, which was much appreciated.

As far as desserts, our family would recommend the streudel, creme bulee and any of the waffle dishes. We'd advise staying away from the chocolate tower and bread pudding.

“Hard act to follow”
Reviewed 26 June 2008

This restaurant was recommended to us by the bus driver on our tour. We decided to give it a try and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent, the staff was very friendly and and the price was much lower than I expected. Please take note though that they do NOT accept credit cards, so if you want to give them a try be sure to bring cash.

There may be a wait since the place is pretty popular (with good reason!) but it is well worth the wait. It is a bit loud inside and the tables are fairly close together, but the atmosphere was nice.

They only serve Filet Mignon for supper and it comes with a lettuce wedge salad <1/8 of a head> and a baked potato. You do have the choice of either a 6oz or 9oz steak.

I have to say this is the best steak dinner I've come across and if I could give it a higher rating I would. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

“Best in Hill City”
Reviewed 21 June 2008

Hill City doesn’t have the greatest restaurants in the country, but our group found Alpine Inn was one of the best in town. We went twice during our 5 day stay in Hill City, once for lunch and once for dinner. They only serve bacon-wrapped filet mignon, baked potato, & salad wedge for dinner. For lunch our group ordered a variety of items from their menu, German food, sandwiches, soups, etc. The dessert menu is enticing and all the items tasted were good. The staff is incredibly friendly. To avoid the long lines, we went late (2 p.m.) for lunch, and 7:30 p.m. for dinner. Bring cash, as they do not accept credit cards. An ATM is in the lobby.

“Great Lunch and Dinner”
Reviewed 17 June 2008

We have eaten here for several years, but have moved away.

This time We ate here for lunches and dinner.

Lunch is a great mix of american/greman style items.
I had the Rachel one day and the Wiener Schnitzel another day.
Reasonable priced.

Great potato salad. Not to cold not to warm. The Tomato and Potato Leek Soups are just right.

Bread pudding is made from dark brown german bread, with carmel sauce and ice cream it is to die for!!

At dinner you get large or small Filet Mignon, always cooked to perfection. A wedge of lettuce with homemade ranch dressing.
A baked potato and bread.

Get there at 4 pm to get into the first seating. Otherwise you will have an hour or so wait in the bar, which has lots of room to sit while waiting.

You know you have really eaten when you have finished your meal.
