“Best location & CLEAN”
Reviewed 10 June 2012

Fantastic cabin resort just outside of Hill City in the Black Hills. It turned out to be a GREAT location to hit all the must-see spots. The owners, Steve & Jan, were gracious enough to stop and get to know us a bit. They shared the in's & out's of what to see, when to see it, and how to get to them all...as well as a little history of the hills. The cabin we stayed in was one of their older cabins, but couldn't see why anyone could ever right a negative review about it. The one absolute must for us is cleanliness; it passed our test with flying colors.

If you're looking for a great spot to stay and have plans to visit everything from Deadwood down to Custer State Park, this is the place for you.

My first time in South Dakota I currently live in Las Vegas. Great Cabins clean, well maintained and comfy soft beds!! We went hiking one day at Harney Peak 6 mile hike great views, next day Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park where we saw Buffalo!! Everything was convenient to the cabins. They have a jacuzzi which is convenient to have after a long hike.

We had a very relaxing stay at Pine Rest Cabins. Jan is a sweetheart and Uver the camp dog is very sweet! Having a grill and kitchen facilities saved us money eating out and it was wonderful to have family dinners while away on vacation. If we are ever in the area again, we weill definately stay at Pine Rest. Thank for making our stay a great experience!

Room Tip: There is no pool, but the hot tub and sauna room was a great way to relax after a day of sightseeing...

We stayed just one night - a little get away from the "regular" weekend at home in Rapid City. Wish we could have stayed longer! Went to Hill City for dinner with friends (another couple), then we all came back to the cabin and took advantage of the hot-tub and sauna in the Bathhouse there. So nice and relaxing. We stayed in cabin #5 - a 100 year old, updated cabin with all the modern conveniences; 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a wonderful atmosphere - if those walls could only talk!

We'd brought games and movies, but were so relaxed after dinner and the visit to the Bathhouse - we crashed early and slept great! Thanks so much to Jan who gave us a very friendly welcome and treated us to a little site-tour of the property. I couldn't recommend a better get away for locals and tourists. You will love it!

Room Tip: Cabin #5 is the closest to the Bathhouse

Absolutely loved this cabin and place. The owner was exceptional to work with. The cabin was clean and cozy. The only draw back was no oven or stove although they did provide a large skillet for cooking and a cookbook to go with it. We had so much fun hiking in the mountains behind the cabin picking up stone after stone of beautiful quartz and slate. The beds were comfortable and anything we needed they went the second mile to provide. The playground was fun for our toddler and our tweens. We would highly recommend this establishment.

We had a wonderful time at the Pine Rest Cabins.
We stayed in the birch cabin and had our own homey private area or a romantic getaway.
The place is beautiful and is surrounded by the great black hills forest.
I suggest this place to anyone and would absolutely love to go back.
We barbecued stakes on the grill provided, and made breakfast in an electric skillet provided.
The place was furnished with everything you need to cook a nice meal, even a bottle opener for your wine.

They have a wonderful hot tub and sauna!

We've had such a beautiful March here in the Black Hills - so glad you were able to get away to enjoy it. We love Hill City, sure appreciate your taking the time to share your comments , and would be happy to host you again sometime. There are a couple of fun things coming up yet this month - tomorrow night is the last "Open Stage" for the winter - upstairs in the Chute Rooster (Barn) restaurant - it's free and we're looking forward to another evening of excellent entertainment. Then, the last Saturday of the month is the locally famous "BIG BAND DANCE" right downtown Hill City in the big school gym with beautiful hardwood dance floor! ( yes, it doubles as a basketball court in the winter time , but once the decorations are complete you'd never know it - they do a fantastic job and people come from all over to enjoy the dinner and dance with live big band music ) . Plenty of fun coming up in April, and in May there's the Black Hills Film Festival , Worldfest, Arts Extravaganza .......keep us in mind for your next getaway to Hill City! Happy Spring from Pine Rest Cabins.

The cabin #2 was everything it said it was on the internet. Very comfortable and the small kitchen had everything you could want. The owners were more than helpful, and had great information on the town and surrounding attractions. The weather was perfect, and my sister and myself had the best vacation ever.

We are delighted that you and your sister enjoyed your stay in small Cabin #2 and had a great vacation. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Autumn is quite wonderful in the Black Hills and we're glad you got some of the best weather of the year while you were here in October ! Today the ground is white and we see a glimpse of the winter wonderland we look forward to each year. Soon we'll be playing broomball on the local pond and enjoying roasted chestnuts on the porch of the Alpine Inn as Hill City celebrates an Olde Tyme Hill City Christmas beginning the day after Thankgiving. May your Black Hills cabin memories return often and bring you back to Pine Rest Cabins - we'd be happy to see you again. Warm Regards from South Dakota - Jan & Steve of Pine Rest Cabins
