Although the cabin was charming, clean and conveniently located, it was RIGHT on the highway. We would not have selected it if we'd known that. The road noise takes away from the sitting on the front porch experience. It did get quiet at night and we slept well.

Thank you for the very kind review and reminder of our location in the center of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Our home for over 20 years, we appreciate the convenience that Pine Rest Cabins affords , but you are correct , this road to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park is busy , on our beautiful summer days especially. We are truly sorry you missed the information and pictures on our website, and we did not pick up on your desire for seclusion, or we'd have gladly suggested another local. As one of the original Tourist Cabin Courts in the Black Hills we once had model T's passing by , and so with the times the road grew but the cabins remain tucked against the mountainside with the National Forest behind us - with about 2 million acres of public land around us, most private businesses are along the highway, but you will find some places "off the beaten path" - should you pass this way again we'd be happy to refer you to one of the more secluded lodging establishments, or be your hosts if you find the perfect spot for you is already occupied.

We recently stayed with family here in cabin #5 for a wedding we attended in Custer State Park. This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay. Accommodated 6 adults with plenty of room and still had a futon extra. As we were there we sat on the porch and enjoyed the scenery and had coffee. Lots of different birds to watch and and as other guests would leave we noticed how clean they kept their cabins. As each guest left they stripped all the bedding including the mattress covers, all sheets, blankets and quilts, all rugs and even the shower curtains!!!! Made my decision, if I get to visit here again this is the place I would stay!!!!! Thank you for making our vacation wonderful......

Room Tip: A great rest. in Hill City to eat, breakfast, lunch or dinner was the Slate Creek Grill, we had a couple breakfasts there and a dinner and it was very good.

Thank you for the very kind review - so glad you enjoyed the big old front porch of Cabin #5 - you couldn't have chosen better weather either! Wow, thank you for noticing what goes on "behind the scenes" at the cabins - we have passed your comments on to our hard working employees - we couldn't do it without them. What a delighful family - we'd love to be your hosts should you get the chance to come this way again. Jan & Steve of PIne Rest Cabins

We book the Pine Rest Cabins in a very short duration before we attempted to vacation in the black hills. Little did I know, I think that we found one of the best cabins available. We absolutely loved it!
We found the Pine Rest Cabins to be very reasonable, comforting, and family friendly. They were always accommodating to our needs and open to allowing our son to explore their toys within the main office.
We were even greeted by their family pet, Uver. Our son loved Uver, and when we would return from a day out, he would always ask if we could go find the dog. Cabins were clean, fully furnished, and offered free internet for sharing our explorations with our family members. We highly recommend staying here and hope to make it back to Pine Rest again.
Our reservation was in cabin #8, while we did not see the other cabins, without a doubt, we would choose the same cabin again.

Well, we can speak for Uver in saying "the feeling is mutual" - he just loved hanging out on the porch of Cabin #8 and probably couldn't get enough attention from your son. That's the way he is . We do hope you get the chance to visit again, and remember now that you are a return customer you'll always get the best discount rate for the season. Book early if you want to be sure to get "your cabin" #8 , but no worries, we're confident you'd like the other cabins too. Jan & Steve & "Uver" of Pine Rest Cabins.

I spent three nights at Pine Rest Cabins, One in the Cedar cabin, and two in cabin number two. The Cedar cabin is exceptionally nice and well furnished. It is even better furnished than my house. The small cabin was also very nice and well furnished and Jan, Steve, Paula, and Uver are very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I will definitely be staying there again next time we are in the area.

Thank you for the very kind review of one of our newer , four seasons cabins - the Cedar - and one of the three season smaller cabins. Hearing good things about our cabins and our employees always makes our day! We've passed your comments on to Paula ( & Uver ) and look forward to seeing you again soon - remember to ask for your return customer discount when you book your next reservation. Kind Regards, Jan & Steve of Pine Rest Cabins.
