Ok. We needed a place to stay. The guy at check in was the rudest person we've experienced in a long time. No greeting, no smile, acted like he couldn't give a da*m.

The room was ok. The air con worked, there was hot water, and the bed was comfortable. But for the price, expected more.

Would recommend here only you absolutely have to spend the night. Rudeness like we experienced at the front desk is, fortunately, a rarity. But you'll get attitude in spades here.

Check in took way too long. Man at desk didn't have name tag and was more worried about paperwork first then checked me in. Room smelled and the air conditioner was old as heck and took forever to cool down. Towels had stains. Shower wasn't hot at all.

Got in late, luckily had called ahead so there was somebody in the office, but they left once we checked in. There was no one there when we left at 7 the next morning - just had to put our room keys in a box by the door. One ice machine - empty. No concession machines that I could see. Bed was comfortable, but the room was musty and the old, loud air conditioner barely worked. It had free wi-fi, but no plugs for the 3-prong laptop plugs so I couldn't use it. Obviously an old, and not very well maintained motel. Got there too late to use the hot tub, which was a good thing, because I don't think it's been running for awhile. It was full of what looked like rain water and bugs. Advertised free continental breakfast is in the restaurant next door, but we didn't know that til we got there - and it consisted of a few pastries, toast and orange juice. Service was slow because there was only one server and she had to run the cash register too. Glad we were only there to sleep! This was the only hotel we could find a room in within driving distance of Mount Rushmore. If we hadn't been exhausted and it hadn't been so late - I think we would have kept driving.

This is an older style “mom and pop” motel. The price while on the lower side is still pricy when you consider what you get here. Our room had a screen door and then a regular door the storm door was broken and would not shut (more about that later) it was a warm day when we stayed here on our way to the Black Hills. The room was very hot so the first thing I did was go to the air and turn it on. The AC was a very old unit that was noisy and hard to see the controls. But after playing around with the controls it did cool the room down ok. As there was a restaurant right next door to the motel (may be owned by the same owners?) we had dinner at the restaurant So that was convenient. Now for the storm door there was a storm during the night and the wind picked up and it caused the screen door to blow open and that woke us up thinking some one way trying to break in to our room. After getting up and seeing it was just the wind I went back to bed. Now for the biggest surprise yet! I got up first shaved and went to take a shower….well in the bath shower combination there is a shower head a handle for hot and cold water (more cold then hot) but no way to get the water up to the shower head. Yes the shower head is just there it look at! I then put water in the tub to take a bath and guess what??? The water only had gotten warm as there seemed to be no hot water left! So I took a cold bath and woke my wife up and told her the shower did not work she said that she would just take a bath I then told her that the water did not get all that warm either. So after both of us taking cold baths we were not very happy to say the least! So with the cold bath and screen door I have given this motel a poor rating.

Room Tip: If you like hot showers I would look somewhere else

We stayed here for one night and would NOT stay again.
Cons:
1.No breakfast of any kind offered. Online advertisement states a nice continental breakfast.
2. We were charged $99 plus tax for a room advertised at $64 online.
3. Wet carpets, room#134, plumbing issue? Wear your shoes.
4. Mold issues, musty smell.
5. Hot tub not working, filled with rainwater and a selection of insects.
6. Lukewarm shower if you're lucky.
7. Ice machine works sometimes.
8. Our room was not cleaned and bed not made from previous tenant.
9. Two prong outlets- do not expect to run your laptops.
10. Basic television channels
11. Air conditioning unit very old and LOUD.
12. You could smell old urine in the bathroom before you even opened the door.
Pros:
1. A roof over our heads
2. Hotel owner did bring me fresh towels and sheets and helped make the bed. Stated she was training in new maids.
3. The outdoor pool was usable.
4. The old air conditioner worked to cool the room down.
5. Room was nice sized. Two full beds and two twin beds. Shower/ toilet in bathroom.
Sink and counter in separate area.
5. Was thankful to be able to leave!
In summary, you win some and you lose some. This was a hassle that wasn't worth it and I hope this review helps the next traveler make an informed decision. We should have kept on driving.
This hotel also has the unworthy endorsement of CHOICE hotels.

Went back to my home town for a high school reunion and stayed at the Rodeway Inn in Kadoka. It was comfortable and clean with many amenities. Plus the location in town and the nearby cafe were a big bonus to our good weekend festivities. Thanks Ken and Cindy for a great place to stay and play......from Roxy.....

Booked for three nights but wish we had not. Room smelt musty and damp. We were met by a young Native American lady who was the only member of staff who looked and acted the part. Well dressed and spoken, everyone else looked like vagrants. We had a blocked bath and was told by the non busy maintenance guy he would fix it the next day. The pool and hot tub were not ready. Pool filled with dirty water and everything filthy. Breakfast was basic but ok. The lady who oversaw it was a delight. Had many interesting stories about the old days but that was the only bright thing about the place. Had to keep replenishing our own coffee etc.
