“Good use for an old landmark”

We had a comfortable room with the high ceilings of a former town office, a beautifully repurposed building. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A very memorable space in a town that time seems to have forgotten.

This was an awesome, awe-inspiring historic property that has been remade into a beautiful inn/hotel. The rooms are absolutely spacious--tall ceilings, in what used to be Lead's historic town hall. The staircase, wood, front desk, doors, etc., are just beautiful and one can tell that a lot of TLC has gone in to making, and preserving, this inn. Clean and spotless from top-to-bottom as well. If you want to get away from the activity of Deadwood, one-armed bandits, etc., this is THE place!

My wife and I were lucky enough to spend a night in this beautiful hotel. I love to find these great old hotels that have been restored and The Historic Town Hall Inn is at the top of my list. Two brothers have just bought the place and they are doing a great job with historic treasure. We had a chance to walk through some of the other historic hotels in Deadwood and the closest comparable rooms to this hotel cost twice as much. It's not very often you can tell an owner they are not charging enough for their rooms.

Room Tip: Love the 14 ft. ceilings. My wife enjoyed her sunrise walk through the neighborhood in Lead, but you...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights during our trip to South Dakota and loved it. The Inn is unique. We had little interaction with the staff because we were out and about but when we did they were extremely nice. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I highly recommend staying here.

22nd and 23rd August 2013
The accommodation was fantastic, spacious, immaculately clean, comfortable, beautifully presented. Our room on the 2nd floor at the front had a kitchenette area with coffee maker, fridge, microwave, plates, cups, cutlery etc, even salt and pepper!
As mentioned by previous reviewers, there is no lift, so if stairs are likely to be a problem, ask for a room on the 1st floor. We requested the 2nd floor as we thought it would be quieter, and the owner offered to carry our luggage up for us, but it wasn't necessary.
There was a bit of traffic noise but not enough to disturb us and we slept well.
We ate at the Bumpin' Buffalo next door one night and had a pleasant meal at a reasonable price.
There is a laundrette just up the road and a supermarket close by.
To sum up, this is a luxurious place to stay with very high standards, the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed for almost a week here during per-sturgis rally week. We had a beautiful large room on the second floor. Very comfortable bed, nice table and sitting area to relax at and work on the laptop using their free wifi, and a good sized bathroom. The staff was very accommodating about our having a truck, trailer, and motorcycle to park. Rags and hose were available for washing the bike. Table and chairs right outside to relax at in the evenings and watch traffic.

On previous trips we have stayed in deadwood and after finding the historic town hall inn on the Internet decided to give Lead a try. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back in the future.

Room Tip: If you don't mind stairs the room with a king sized bed in the bowed window area on the second f...

We were pleasantly surprised by the quietness and comfort of the "historic" rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It is a wonderful break from the chain hotels. I'm not sure we'll ever find our way back to Lead, but if we do we will stay here!
