Very nice newer hotel while traveling across country. Clean & comfortable!!! Thick comfortable beds with white soft linens. Flat screen television. Quiet rooms. Heard no freeway sounds. Friendly professional staff. Attractively decorated. Nice pool with large waterslide for kids complete with lifeguard. Continental breakfast above average; self-service in a clean eating area. Tasty coffee. Other TA reviews very accurate.

We liked this Holiday Inn Express so much, that we became Priority Club members. The nightly rate was $5 more than a hotel across the parking lot and it was $5 well spent. The best feature is that it is a non-smoking hotel. No stale musty odors. People respected their policy and would go outside to smoke.

We found this hotel by chance while driving from Michigan to Mt. Rushmore. We liked it enough that we spent another night on our return trip.

We stopped here while driving eastbound on US 90 from Yellowstone back to Chicago. We were exhausted and we made the reservation on the telephone sight unseen about 10:00 prior to check in. We parked near the front door and walked by the indoor pool with two slides on the way to the elevator. The room had two amazing queen size beds with a separate lounge area (it was about $10 for the upgrade). We had a 26" flat screen tv and a nice bathroom. Restaurants are in walking distance in this clean, safe area and the front desk even provided us with a pizza hut # so we could order delivery pizzas before we even checked in. This was a great stop after spending a week in the wild environs of Yellowstone. Free breakfast in the a.m. was convenient.

I can't say enough positive things about our stay. The staff were as polite as possible. They seemed genuinely interested in hearing our opinion of our stay. I'm sure they probably are because they know they will receive a positive response. The room was immaculate. Service: outstanding and helpful. We returned to our room very late and were going to microwave a frozen dinner in the dining area. The staff noticed us and checked to see if we needed anything and gave us condiments and everything else we needed. The building is very secure with video monitors at the receptionist desk showing all parts of the building. My favorite thing was the bed. We are going to find out who supplies their beds and purchase one for ourselves. The bedding was simply fantastic. We didn't stick around for breakfast, so I can't rate that, but everything we were fortunate enough to experience was perfect.

We stayed at this hotel the first night of our vacation. This hotel is only a year old and still looks like it just opened. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was extremely clean and even though they were pretty busy when we were there, the breakfast items were quickly replenished and hot. We only stayed one night, but wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip through Mitchell. Just for an FYI, check out Whiskey Creek Grill across the street for dinner. It was convenient and very enjoyable.

This is a brand new and extremely nice hotel. We had a suite with a very comfortable bed, fast wireless, flat-screen TV, and a roomy bathroom with tile and granite that was an extra nice touch. There are some good restaurants nearby. The complimentary breakfast was the standard fare. We would stay here again.

The hotel is very clean and appears to be new. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Comfortable beds. The pool is smaller but also has a water slide which kids would enjoy. The breakfast was well stocked. We had a good steak dinner at the Depot restaurant which is in downtown Mitchell.

I stumbled upon this hotel while driving through South Dakota after a visit to Mount Rushmore.

This is a new hotel and Holiday Inn really hit a home run on this one. If this is to be the standard for new Holiday Inns, I'm a customer for life.

The decor and furnishings are better than any other roadside hotel that I have stayed in. The rooms are immaculately clean and the furnishings are tasteful and of high quality . My room was equipped with a large LCD T.V. The bed, linens, towels and and pillows were of very nice quality giving the room the feel of a luxury retreat. I hated to leave in the morning.

The hotel is located in a quiet part of town a short distance from the interstate highway and set back from the local streets. This completely eliminates street noise.

My room was very quiet. Although the hotel was not full, the building felt solid and I suspect the quality construction will prevent the transmission of much noise from adjoining rooms.

Although, I didn't use them, the pool and spa area are the nicest I have seen in a roadside hotel. The breakfast was pretty much Holiday Inn standard, but nicely done. No complaint at all.

The owner of this building (this has to be someone's personal project) has done a great job. He evidently intends to keep the hotel in excellent condition as the hotel is entirely non-smoking and has a no pet policy.

If you are looking for a resort-style room in a roadside hotel in the middle of South Dakota, this is the place. The challenge now will be for the management to maintain the hotel at the high level I experienced.

  • Liked — Absolutely top-notch furnishings and decor for a roadside hotel.
  • Disliked — Even a fault-finder would have problems finding fault with this hotel.
