“Exceptional Bed and Breakfast - A Must Stay for Everyone!”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this bed and breakfast and our hosts, Lyndy and Kenny. Their ranch is in such a beautiful setting of rolling hills and so relaxing and quiet. Exactly what we needed after an entire week of driving and sightseeing in the Black Hills and Badlands. And speaking of sightseeing, Lyndy gave us wonderful suggestions on things to see and hikes to take in the Badlands which was so helpful and appreciated.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by Lyndy and were showed our lodging for the evening, the gorgeous Carriage House. We had stayed in some places on our trip that were not that clean or decorated nicely. We very excited to see how lovely Lyndy has decorated the Carriage House and how very nice and clean it was. Lyndy provides bottled water from their reverse osmosis system and even had microwave popcorn for us in the cupboard! The beds were sooo comfortable too. They do not have television in the Carriage House but do have a tv with videos. There is regular television in the house if you want to watch it. We did not. We just enjoyed relaxing and chatting.

Lyndy and Kenny prepared a wonderful dinner for us when we arrived. The guys had steak and I had chicken. Everything was so tasty and tasteful including the table setting. We had a broccoli salad, warm french bread, and out of this world potato casserole. And Lyndy baked a delicious peach cobbler for dessert.

After dinner we hit the hay for the night in the Carriage House. We were told we might hear coyotes but I think the rain and cold kept them quiet that night. That was fine as the pitter patter of the rain drops lulled us to sleep.

We awoke refreshed the next day after a much needed restful night's sleep. Lyndy had a delightful breakfast all ready when we arrived in the house. The breakfast presentation was quite nice too. We had an egg and sausage casserole, homemade raspberry bread, and fresh fruit nicely cut in small squares on a skewer. Coffee, orange juice and water were also available. Oh and tea if you preferred.

The best part of the entire stay was the conversation with Lyndy and Kenny and other guests. Lyndy and Kenny have some fabulous stories to tell so be sure to ask when you're there.
This review is getting long but I just cannot say enough wonderful things about this bed and breakfast. I've stayed in several bed and breakfasts and this one is by far the BEST ever! You will not be disappointed. :-)

Oh and the long drive on the gravel road everyone talks about....it's not that long at all. The cows keep you company along the way and some of them even run along with you!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable.

This is not a dude ranch , but a 100 year old Sears and Roebuck foursquare home down a dirt road 8 miles from the Interstate on a working cattle ranch. The home and the hosts are charming..The breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere. The stories are great. The hostess grew up here and the host is a retired bull rider at the rodeo. The rooms are very comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house are best unless you have a large group.

The lodge at the Badlands was full, and my husband and I opted for quaint atmosphere, anyway. So we went with a historic Bed and Breakfast. Our room was quaintly and charmingly furnished. Our host, Lyndey, was lovely and charming, as well. We had spent our first night in the Badlands camping, so imagine how nice it was so have a hot shower and pretty furnishings on our last day. The breakfast was amazing.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Irish Lovers room that had an old fashioned bath. But the website shares a glimpse...

It was a wonderful and quiet bed and breakfast. It was well worth the extra drive. No lights around and big open starry night sky. We stayed in the Irish Lovers room. Quaint and charming. The breakfast was made with care and thoughtfulness. Lyndy and Kenny are exceptional host.

We spent two nights last week at the Triangle Ranch Bed and Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found the gravel road to be in excellent condition (no ruts or bumps) and enjoyed the drive through the prairie fields without another house in sight. It is an excellent location for seeing the Badlands National Park and the Minuteman Missile Site. Breakfasts and dinners were outstanding. The rooms are comfortable - this 1923 house is on the National Historic Register thus remodeling options are limited. The hosts are warm and friendly, making you feel very welcome. The other eight guests present during our stay seemed to be very pleased and some were opting to stay longer than originally planned.

The access to this farmhouse is via a long, bad gravel road. We drove miles and miles along rutted and "car-bottom scraping" tracks to get there, across many Texas gates and past lots of cattle. We knew it was a cattle ranch, and we prepared for that, but had no idea their road access would be so terrible.

When we finally arrived, Lyndy and Kenny were welcoming hosts, and served us an excellent dinner the night we arrived and breakfast the next morning. The food was all nicely presented and served on fine china. They live in her grandmother's lovely old Art and Crafts house - a prefab ordered from Sears in 1923! The history of the house is very interesting, and we enjoyed viewing this historic home.

The bedrooms are upstairs: we had the Irish Lover's Room. Our room had a clawfoot tub IN the room, not in a bathroom, and it was hard not to get water and steam all over the room when we showered. There was a tiny sink and a toilet in a small converted clothes closet. The room was small. There was a large double bed, but only one chair and one bedside table. A dresser took up valuable space but was full of their items and the top was covered with their personal knick-knacks, so there was no place for our personal toiletries. The only place for our suitcases was the floor, and even that was a challenge with such a small floor space.

As charming as the house was and the nice welcome from the hosts, because of the bad road and the high price for a small inconvenient room we would not return..

Room Tip: Irish Lovers' Room is too small for a couple, but would be good for a single person.

We appreciate your input and have studied how to edit the Irish Lover's Room to be more convenient for our guests since the time you stayed. However we cannot change the road to Triangle Ranch (having been in this location since 1904, long before Interstate 90 or the county road system). The county, graveled road is maintained seasonally by the Jackson Co. Highway Dept. Our website states that we are 8 miles north of I90 or 8 miles southeast of Hwy 14. Kenny and I commute out to both highways in our Ford Crown Victoria. To create private bathrooms in our historic home we did access some closet space and part of the bedroom which , in your room, necessitated the clawfoot tub/shower being in the corner of the room (pictured on our website). The Irish Lover's Room dimensions are 11.9'x14.7' with a queen bed, 1 bedside table/lamp, small dresser with mirror, wicker rocking chair and pole lamp. The rate was $115 including a full breakfast at the time you visited Triangle Ranch.

Loved this old Sears Roebuck catalog home at the end of a dirt road. Only ~20 minutes from the Badlands and well worth the drivr to get there. The owners are a wealth of info on the house and the area having lived their lives in the area. We ate dinner there and both meals were excellent as we're the breakfasts. We hated to leave this oasis of peacefulness..
