What. I liked about it was the small zoo at the end of safari ride. What I didn't like about it was the backup of cars thru the safari.

“Cougars and Bobcats and Bears, Oh My!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

This is a MUST SEE if you are ever in the Rapid City, SD area... The drive-thru portion is better than your average midwestern drive-thru animal park, with it's long, narrow segmented enclosures making 'closeup' encounters/viewing of animals like BigHorn Sheep, Elk in velvet, Black and Brown Bears, Antelope, Cougars, Arctic White Wolves, (among others) the norm, even crossing the road in front of our car, (just keep moving slowly and they will move out of the way), even on the hot midday time we arrived.
Even the walk-thru 'babyland' area is quite entertaining, especially the 16 or so cubs on this day, with it's myriad of smaller wild animal enclosures and extensive gift shop.

You could say it is expensive, but that is what you get in a tourist area and how often do you get to see so many animals from the comfort of your car anyway.
Especially fun for kids who don't get to go out into nature much anyway, but our car of adults had a great time and stopped constantly to snap pictures and video.

The entrance fee does have a 10% Military and Senior discount and we found the best time for viewing was early in the morning or later in the afternoon, when the animals are naturally more active, however we went just after noon and saw all of the animals.

“Fun Time!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

We enjoyed traveling through Bear Country with our two granddaughters ages 11 and 12. No better way to see brown and black bears and I love they have the freedom to wander as they choose. The other areas were interesting as well, we took many photos. Walking around the other area of Bear Country was fun too, especially the cubs. We could have watched them for hours. Try and go as early in the morning during peak season, because other wise it's just too crowded. We had a wonderful time at Bear Country.

“Must-stop for kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

Kids were looking forward to this place the most. Nice little drive around the park. We saw all the animals except the wolves; they were sleeping in the long grass. Lots of bears, so you won't have a problem getting your fill there. I did expect it to be more "natural park" like, then a drive-through zoo, if that makes sense.

I wasn't aware of the baby area before we got there, so that was a pleasant surprise.

“Worth the price of admission! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

Not really knowing what this was all about and thinking it was one of those tourist traps, this place was pretty cool. The tour is approximately 2 miles and you get to see animals that you would not normally get to see in the wild. The bear section was the best. They walk around your car and get pretty close. Our kids lived it!
