For the room rate they charge, $159 the hotel is priced a little high but you are near lots of tourist attractions so that is to be expected. Overall the breakfast was on the plus side compared to others, the rooms were clean, the lobby was updated, and the pool had a nice little slide. The only down side was the windows were a little thin so you could hear people outside. Staff was helpful and had no problems during our stay.

This hotel was in a great location for us as we headed out of the Custer, SD area for vacation. We were able to see some tourist attractions and it was easy access. It is away from downtown area, but only a short drive away. Pool was great and had a nice waterslide. My daughter must have went down 100 times. Kids had a great time. Breakfast was set up and maintained very well by staff.

Family stayed here two nights. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was average. We didnt feel the quality lived up the the price we paid. I paid more than other area hotels because I thought I could depend on Hampton quality. This was not the case. The room seemed worn and the matresses on the beds were worn out.

We booked a night here based on prior reviews and we were not disappointed!! We stay at Hilton properties all over the world and Hampton Inns have been sort of lackluster...not this one! If you're staying in the Rapid City area, don't miss out on this great property with an even greater staff!

As always with Hampton, clean, great breakfast, free internet. But the staff is willing to take the extra time and effort to accommodate - even when hammered by the tourist season. Manager is affable, helpful with information, and has a sincere desire to help guests while maintaining a well-run enterprise. We were very comfortable and able to use it as a base for our 3 day tour of the area.

Room Tip: If you have special requests (away from elevator, upper floor) do it when you make reservation.

My hubby and I stay at Hampton Inns or Hiltons whenever we travel and they are available. I have yet to be left upset by one. I was greeted immediately by the front desk staff and given no issues on checking in with my hubby's reward card, even though he was not with me this trip. The room is in his name, and the hotel staff was fine with it, as our notes during our reservation reflected that this would be the situation. The front desk staff even thanked both my husband and myself for our military service(booked using the military discount rate!). The pool is perfect for those with younger kids as it doesn't get deeper than 5 feet and has a waterslide. My first night is tonight(June 9th), so, I can not comment on the breakfast, but I am expecting a normal Hampton breakfast...lots of choices, multiple hot foods and cold cereals and yogurts, delicious coffee and variety of juice available.

My husband and I recently stayed at Hampton Inn in Rapid City SD. We have stayed in Hampton for many years and usually love them. Rapid City.Not so much! We were given a room we did not reserve and were given no recourse by staff. Bed was worn out and needed to be replaced.The room was shabby and just plain depressing. We did not request a handicapped room but none the less got one and the beds had no frames just the mattress was set on the floor, we could hardly get out once we got in the bed as not only was it too close to the floor we rolled to the middle since it was needing to be replace. The bath towels were thin without nap left on them. We told the desk staff upon our checking out that we were not happy and we got a half hearted "SORRY", no 100% guarantee as Hampton advertises it offers. NOTHING! I will never stay there again and truthfully I am rethinking Hampton Inn period. with so many other choices in hotels I think I can do better these days than Hamptons even though I am a Hilton Honors member..oh and one more thing,, the signs all over the room suggesting you not steal was not a nice touch, when I called the desk to ask if I should have someone double the check the room before I left to make certain I did not take anything they had the lame excuse that that isn't necessary, they only wanted me to know I could buy the iron or ironing board or coffee pot of mattress etc (really) if I wanted it rather than simply take it home .. good grief
