“Excellent hotel, but needs minor tweaks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

We enjoyed our stay here.

Pros: 24 hr pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room. Airport shuttle was very accomodating. Rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. This is a suite, so there is a sitting area (living room?) with its own TV, in addition to the bedroom TV. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is large and well-appointed. It is very quiet, except for a little freeway noise. But did not hear noise from other guests or hallway. Room service is prompt. The all-you-can-eat breakfast ($9.95) is good; they make custom omelettes and there is plenty of fruit, oatmeal, etc.

Cons: The photo attached shows that the king bed is too large for the bedroom. There are only about three inches between the bed and the heater/AC. We got tho breakfast about 9:45, 15 minutes prior to closing. The custom-made omelette didn't taste fresh -- don't know if it was the oil or what. We mentioned this to the chef, and she got us a freshly made omelette from the kitchen! It was much, much better, and we appreciated that level of service. We ordered room service on a couple of occasions. The pasta bolognese was pretty bad as was the turkey sandwich. But the chicken entree was delicious.

Room Tip: Ask for queen bed or two double beds to avoid the cramped space with a king bed

I have never stayed at a Cambria Suites before but will look for this brand again. While located directly on I90, the traffic noise was not bothersome in the least despite that my room directly faced the freeway. The separate living areas, upscale bathroom, and small kitchen facility made this an ideal place to spend a week. But what really made my stay most pleasurable was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, even to calling the hotel handyman to help open a package I had received. The restaurant and bar are excellent as well.

Room Tip: Tower rooms are worth the extra money

The Cambria Suites Rapid City is a super nice hotel just off the freeway and right next door to Cabela's Outdoor Superstore! The rooms are really functional and cool, the beds are fantastic with lots of pillows and there is plenty of parking. The pool is nice and the firepit is really unique. The Front Desk will sell you the stuff to make professional quality s'mores... if you didn't get enough eat already. The tiny restaurant out does itself with excellent breakfast including omelettes made to order and the usual buffet for 9.95, and a dinner which is basic in terms of selection, but really good, including beer on tap, and two big screen TVs for football, etc. To top it off, who knew that South Dakota hospitality was anything like this? EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this hotel, from the Front Desk on down just exudes friendliness, care and a good attitude. We stayed four nights and sincerely were sad to leave. We will be back!

As convenient to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse and Badlands and Deadwood and Wall as anywhere and such a great place to stay I would not consider anywhere else.

Room Tip: One side of this hotel faces the freeway, You're better on the other side, or make sure and run...

The team at Cambria made me feel at home. From the Welcome Nicolas bag of treats to providing directions. Great facility and easy access to the highway. If you go to Rapid City, stay here. Jasmin Marcus left a personal note with a card. Few places take the time nor have the ability to do so but at Cambria, it's priority one.

When you're traveling, you hate to deal with arbitary pool hours. After a day of touring, a soak in the hot tub is great, no matter what time it is. Or a swim in the early morning before showering and getting ready might just be on your schedule. We loved having the pool open 24 hours. We didn't use it during crazy hours, but it was great not having to worry about when it was open and closed. We were also impressed with the quality of the pool towels
The room was decorated with a new modern feel and it was very clean. The bathroom was spacious. The bed was comfortable. I had read in other reviews that the sofabed was not comfortable, so I requested extra padding for my teenage daughter. I had hoped the mini refrigerator would have had a mini freezer, too, but it did not. We passed on buying breakfast at the hotel and brought our own cereal, milk and juice. One morning we even ate our leftover Chinese take-out. The front desk personnel were pleasant and helpful with a dinner coupon.
Only disappointment was that we left a couple things behind in our room and called, but never heard back. Still missing them. Also, it would have been nice to have another chair (when the sofabed is out, there is only the desk chair and an uphostlered chair, but there were 3 of us.

Have you ever been in a heated argument with your gps while triying to find a location? We did. Our gps was almost calling us names while we drove in circles trying to get to the hotel. But when we finally arrived... oh! What a pleasant surprise. This small hotel is beautifully decorated in a very clean and modern way.
Big ceilings, stone walls, soft light, a huge sitting area, bar, fitness center with enough equipment for a decent workout (mysteriously one 35 lbs . dumbbell was missing), a nice pool with a hot tub next to it and free parking.
But the best part was the room. It was HUGE. Not big, not spacious, Ballpark Huge!
Kitchenette with fridge and microwave? Check.
Separated sitting/work area?
Check.
Two flat screens TV's? Check.
Super comfortable king bed with 6 feather pillows? Check.
Bath & Body works toiletries? Check.check.chek.
seriously, I wish we could have stayed longer just to sleep in that bed a few more nights.
The staff was always friendly and very helpful. And the best part?
THE PRICE.
We booked using Orbitz, and of course we were supposed to find a good deal. ($65.00 a night! Crazy!!) - But if you check their regular prices, they start at $99.00
With its perfect location close to the highways, restaurants and drugstores, its amazing design and spacious rooms and their unbeatable prices, this is a hotel you should keep in mind when visiting Ft.Lauderdale.

Our stay at the Cambria was one of the best we ever had with Choice. Great comfy beds, great staff, clean rooms. Breakfast not included but priced okay for what they have to offer. Dinner options in walking distance or you can order Room Service from the Restaurant in house. We ordered in and it was delicious.
No wonder they are number one!!! I would recommend this place any day!! Keep up the great work!
