“Perfect camping”

Everything you could ask for. Level sites, beautiful forest backdrop. We felt very fortunate to be able to enjoy the fruits of someone else's hard labour. The owner was very cordial and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. This is our second year here at this campground and hope to be able to return many more times in the future. The location is ideally situated for enjoying all the tourist attractions in the Black Hills. We enjoyed the impeccably maintained pool, hot tub and grounds. Kudos to the owner and staff! If Wi Fi is one of your necessities, the reception was very good.

We stayed here in July'14. The roads in the campground were steep and rocky. So where the campsites. The bbq/fire pit was in a steep location in our site, it was impossible to sit and enjoy a fire. Yes, there were trees, but the campsites were so close it was impossible to have any privacy. The internet was terrible (intermittent and very slow). As soon as we checked in and started to set up, the manager drove by on his quad(I'm assuming to make sure i was accurate in telling him how many ppl were at our site). He stopped at our site for a sec and went back to the office...Bathrooms and showers were clean. I would never stay here ever again. The overall experience was terrible. Felt like we were given a terrible site, but most of the sites seemed terrible.

We stayed two nights and if we had seen the campground prior to paying we would have ran. Our unfortunate visit was the last weekend in May on our way to see my son at Lewis McChord JMB in Tacoma WA. None of the campsites were mowed, Wi-Fi did not work in our camper, the restrooms and showers looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in months. Also there was only 5 campers in the campground and they had at least 75 sites, but no more then we finished setting up did they place another camper right in front of us. So, when we were sitting at the picnic table we were looking right into the window of the camper parked below us, because the campsites are terraced ......the camper below us was less than 5 feet from our picnic table, we could here everything they were saying inside their camper, very uncomfortable, so uncomfortable we didn't sit outside because we didn't want to invade their privacy. As for the office, they closed at 5, we checked in at 4:30, when I walked back down to voice my concerns the office was closed and there wasn't a sole in sight. Also the campground is built on the side of a hill, with VERY narrow roads that are NOT in good condition. When pulling the camper into the site the bumper of our camper dug into the ground ripping the cap off that holds the waste water pipe. Wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone.

Stayed for 2 nights June 2014. Location was perfect- right next to Bear Country and just a quick drive into Keystone. Well maintained grounds. A bit close to the highway though we did not hear traffic noise at night. We stayed in the large cabin with bunk beds. It was one large open room- good for large groups/families but not if you need privacy. Dog friendly and perfect for our large dog. Security could have been better- the locks on the cabin doors were not very reassuring. Cabin had an above average number of spiders. Then again, it's at a campground. Would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Dog friendly staff and cabins.

Excellent resort featuring many different accomodations from tenting, RVs, cabins, group lodges.
Well sheltered with excellent facilities and close to all of fthe area attractions. Reasonable rates with AAA/CAA discounts available. Staff and management are courteous and helpful. We have enjoyed coming back year after year. Excellent for cycling or motor biking to near by towns.

Room Tip: RV sites are roomy and not bumper to bumper. Shady and sheltered.

Check in staff was wonderful. However the manger was rude, and very disrespectful. While checking in made snide comments about who we were traveling with (he felt it was too many kids) he the followed us to our site and counted the number of kids we had with us. He had told him the honest answer at first then he didn't like it so we told him a different answer. What a rude, disrespectful man. I do not recommend staying if your have very many children.

mmresort, General Manager at Mystery Mountain Resort, responded to this review, 18 May 2015
When this guest checked in, she stated and registered for 3 guests for her campsite. The manager checked her in and there was no discussion or question, as to how many people were in her party. It was a very normal and cordial check in process. While visiting with other guests in another campsite, the manager observed that there were 7 people exiting her RV and heading to the pool in their swimsuits. The manager approached her and politely asked her to come back to the office to adjust her registration with the actual number of guest at the site. The guest complied with the manager’s request and changed her reservation to the actual number of people at the site. After the guests used the pool for approximately 3 hours along with the shower and restroom facilities afterwards, she unhooked the utilities from her RV, stopped in the office and asked for a refund. She was given a full refund and departed the property. It’s unfortunate when people are dishonest, just to save a few bucks. And it’s unfortunate for a business, when they write a dishonest review because they were exposed, as being dishonest.

We spent 5 nights here in one of the cabins and we will visit again when heading this way. The staff are great and everything is incredibly clean. It is perfectly located to see all of the area attractions and comfortable to come home to each night!
