“An enjoyable meal”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

We dined at the Enigma Restaurant on our first evening of our stay. The meal was very good, but the waiter’s manner was distant and showed little interest in interacting with the diners. One wonders if this related to the fact that this meal was part of a contracted coach tour stay and that there would be no additional gratuities for this meal.
We also ate breakfast here on two successive mornings. I’m pleased to say that the lady looking after the coach tour guests was most welcoming and helpful. The breakfast selection was very good and we had no complaints.

“Pretty darn good for hotel food”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

After a long drive we decided to eat in the hotel. Menu selection was broad and taste was even better.

“Awfully nice people doing a awful, awful job.”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

Top down trouble. Ordered the squash salad. Crushing amount of truffle oil prevented a second bite. Just set it aside. Waiter agreed and offered to comp. Crab cakes: runny. Who's cooking? Mahi mahi over rice that was either so old it was crunchy or had simply not been cooked. $55 dollars for really terrible food.

Went back this morning since it is the restaurant in my hotel. The sorely neglected child chef making omlettes betrayed us both. Since I never got my coffee, I didn't have to stay long.

All that and the damn Muzak playing Heaven By The Dashboard Lights while I try to choke down their hopelessness.

“good lunch”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

Stopped here for lunch and had a Monte Cristo sandwich with a raspberry jalapeno sauce, which was excellent. Service was so-so.

“Better than most recent reviews”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

Enigma went through a management change at the beginning of the summer of 2013. Many of the familiar faces are gone and we, too, took a several month hiatus. We returned this week and were pleased to be greeted by a former host, Peggy, and enjoyed a great meal. We had the salmon creeps, Caesar salad, and beef fillet, all done perfectly. We now stay away from the crab cakes as, sadly, they no longer use fresh crab. Back in the day they were the best that could be found anywhere! It's gratifying Enigma is able to keep up with their food quality. Finding a new staff that will sustain their tradition of excellence will be the challenge.
