“Friendly staff, good parking and clean, quiet room!”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

I like quiet, but accessible to downtown..and this place fits the bill on both! Parking is at a premium downtown also. I have stayed at two other Rapid City hotels, and thankfully will not need to keep hopping around..have already made my reservation for August when my son goes back to the School of Mines..and I drop him off and wander over to the Firehouse!

Room Tip: i like being as far up as possible, and away from elevators!

Green Features: beds are great, not sure if that is because of the latex mix..like the products in the room

We are so happy to serve as your home away from home! We're also pleased that you appreciate our efforts toward eco-friendliness, from our popular BEE KIND guest amenities to offering organic menu items whenever possible in our Enigma Restaurant. We love hearing from our well rested guests who have gotten a great night's sleep on our custom-made, all organic beds! We look forward to seeing you in August.

Good hotel close to the main street and convenient as a base for visiting Fort Laramie, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse monument . The restaurant and bar were good as was the brekfast . Its well worth trying the hotel bar as the local bars close at 9pm on Sunday (they obviously dont need your tourist money.)

We are so happy we were able to play a role in your enjoyment of our little corner of paradise. It is always our pleasure to offer the guest amenities enjoyed by so many travelers and are glad you experienced our 445 Martini Lounge and Enigma Restaurant.

Although most days around here are pretty tame, it is still fun to be out here in the wild west!

I travel for business and appreciate a quiet, quality stay. The rooms have been recently updated and are cool and comfortable. Centrally located and within walking distance to a number of good restaurants. If you're coming to Rapid City you'll be pleased with this hotel.

We stayed at the Adoba for an event for our son's Residency graduation ceremony, so they had a block of rooms and our initial decision to stay there was due to prices for June in Rapid City are outrageous and this was very reasonably priced. We LOVED the downtown location as the ceremony was at the Dahl Fine Arts Center and it's only four blocks away...a very nice walk from the Adoba. We spent three nights there since we also decided to play tourist for a few days. The first day we headed out to see our son for most of the day, when we returned to our room we found a pretty large PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER in our room blasting air and very loud...no notes of why or where this thing came from (our room was warm when we got there, but decided they just hadn't turned it on early, so we set it and left). My husband went down and asked what was up...they said since the air in that room wasn't working they had some repairman working on it and he would come get the unit when he was done...it was after 9:00 PM and I turned the wall unit on and heard the fan start up so we turned the portable one off...they had it hooked up to our window somehow for venting so all night long the noise was terrible and if we'd been smarter we would have taken it out like we did in the morning. We were just a little confused as to why there was no note or notice as to what was happening. The air did work the remainder of the trip. NOW...

Here's the rest of my review...though we were on a high floor...7th, we were above the bar area and Saturday night is obviously a hopping hot night at this bar...at 3:30 the noise finally calmed down; there is a lot of street noise (the cycles love to rev). We did hear a train about 3:00 also...it's right next to the hotel. The noise level was much better the last two nights.

The room itself was kind of neat but ours was fairly small and had an conjoining room and you could hear every thing...we were next to a family with two babies in pac/plays...we heard some crying but not bad for two little ones. The next people we could hear but it wasn't too bad.

The breakfast buffet was free with our room and we did partake two of the three days, but no change in any of the offerings so we chose another option on our last day....it was nice for free so you can't complain.

AND finally there is road construction out front AND exterior work being done so getting there was not the easiest. Also this hotel caters to a lot of bus groups, not that that matters, but when they arrive the elevators can be a lengthy wait.

centrally located for the town centre with plenty of restaurants to choose from. rooms adequate although in our room there was a shortage of a mirror when using the hairdryer, we feel that one should have been above the dressing table (there was in our friends room) but as we were only staying 1 night we did not make a fuss about it.
Buffet breakfast 15 dollars but it was a very good breakfast and we felt value for money but you can also order from the grill menu and pay for things separately. Evening Hotel restaurant very pricey so we ate at the popular "The Old Fire Station" within walking distance of the hotel- you have to get there very early or book as it gets packed- all sorts of food on offer and very reasonable.

Room Tip: high room gives a good view of the city

We got at "Dakota Room" at this hotel for a night out. The room itself was strange and not at all restful with big wall size pictures of motorcycles and areas in the Black Hills. The chair was not comfortable and the colors clashed. However, I wasn't too upset about any of that, it was livable and not that bad. The bad part was that evidently nobody had cleaned the window sill from the previous occupants and there was a bunch of ring marks from glasses on it. Also, the bathroom had a sliding door with a raised sill which my husband and I both kicked a few times on accident. Otherwise we liked the room fairly well. Just be aware also that this hotel is right next to the railroad tracks, and even though only 2-3 trains come through Rapid in a day, it can be loud. The reason I give it 4 stars is that the room was, other than the sill, clean. It was quiet. The 445 Bar downstairs is awesome and has great drinks. The free breakfast was in the restaurant and was really good. It is right downtown which is great for tourists, and in fact has a gift shop attached. I like it pretty well, just would not get a Dakota room next time.

Room Tip: Ask for something on West Main Street which is the side away from the train tracks.

I am glad your stay was mostly pleasant, but I'm sorry you did not like the decor on our 8th floor. Because we are fortunate to live in one of the best motorcycle riding areas in the entire U.S. we dedicated an entire floor to our two-wheeled colleagues, with a motif inspired by our friends who travel a different road than most.

We endeavor to anticipate our guests' needs and empower our staff to accommodate the diverse tastes of our visitors whenever possible. We hope you will visit again and mention your preference for a more conventional hotel room.

We stayed here as part of a tour. Room was very contemporary. The hotel had a "hard wire internet" connection (4Mbs) in the room along with wireless connection. I do not know if a password was required for the wireless. The hotel was essentially in the center of town.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We feel very fortunate to be located in the heart of downtown Rapid City, where there is so much to see and do within walking distance of the hotel. We are nearing the completion of an inviting outdoor interactive area with fire pits and abundant outdoor seating. Our guest rooms have been completely renovated in the past year, and we recently completed an expansion and upgrade to our banquet and meeting facilities as part of our effort to remain current and enhance our guest experience.
