Nice clean, well-maintained rooms, beds comfortable, well kept up. Room rate in low $60 range in January, but hunting season just ended, so this motel probably just lowered their rates. Very few guests in the motel.

As noted previously, this was formerly a Super 8.

I had a very nice stay at this small town motel. If you are traveling south on highway 83 the next motel is 90 miles south in Pierre. The rooms in this motel were very clean. The fellow at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. The weather was below 0 and snowy, but the motel was cozy and quiet.

As said before this hotel is no longer a Super 8, it's the Selby Motel. Pretty typical simple rooms, but comes at a steep price as they're trying to make a buck off the oilfield traffic heading to North Dakota. The room was $97.78/night when it should be $40-60 a night during the off season in a small town. Now I know this place has a no pet policy, so we kept our dog in the truck the first night, but after hunting all day the second night the dog fell ill and we were worried about him so we brought him into the room figuring we could work something out. The next morning the owner found out that we had a dog in the room and read us the riot act, threatened my father, charged my credit card an additional $430 on top of the $195.56 already paid. After refusing to sign the receipt for $430 he told our group that we had 10 minutes to get our stuff out before he called the police because we were evidently now trespassing. Yes we bent the rules with the dog but there was no damage to the room as a result of the dog. There is no reasoning with the owner. The Charges are now in dispute, as I will not pay the $430. There is one other review on another site about this place also having to do with a dog, evidently he hates animals but there is still no reason to get treated like this. Eventually he will mess with the wrong oilfield trash and get stepped on.

Room Tip: I don't recommend this to anyone

This motel is no longer a Super 8. It is independent. It is expensive compared to surrounding communities ($84). Also...don't believe the part about wireless internet in the rooms. If you want internet, you get to sit in the lobby.

For starters, I don't think it is associated with Super 8 anymore but when you do a search that's what will come up. It is what you'd expect from a South Dakota Super 8. Room was simple, clean and inexpensive ($59 for a single w/ AAA). Desk is open 24 hrs which was good since I didn't get in until 1:30PM. A friendly host greeted me. The breakfast offered was subpar but there's a restaurant downtown that offers a good midwestern selection of eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. There isn't many selections in this part of South Dakota. Based on my experience, this is your best choose.
