Just left the BW Spearfish yesterday morning, stayed there for 5 nights. The facility was about as clean as one would hope for in a hotel, including a person walking the perimeter every morning to pick up trash. The rooms were not overly spacious, but for as little time as we actually spent in the room, it was adequate for sleeping purposes. Breakfast was nice, nothing fancy, just the basics. The staff were tremendous, both courteous, and helpful. All in all, I would return to BW Spearfish for my next trip. It's a good bang for the buck!

Dear SLinn, thank you for your comments about your 5-night stay with us! Sounds like you made this your "base camp" for a Black Hills trip. At the end of the day, our goal is to know you want to come back and stay again - and it sounds like you will. If you do, please check out our family rooms (with 4 beds) for more space if you need it. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment!

I made reservations on line. I was traveling with my 86 year old father who can not climb stairs. I asked for a first floor room. When we checked in we were put in a second floor room. There is no elevator. There was a high school basketball tournament. Young kids who could have easily handled the stairs were put on the first floor. The room was clean and the room was very nice. Very spacious room. Easily accessible from interstate. Parking area is small. I think the room was a little pricey.

Dear Alyce G, thank you for staying with us - and for your comments. With regard to calling direct for specific needs, I couldn't agree more. Please if you come again (or any readers) give us a call to discuss anything specific that will help your stay. Without an elevator, we are used to taking care of your specific need of first floor every day in our busy times of the year. Our General Manager, Dan, said he recalls you coming down the stairs and thought 'why, or how, did they get put upstairs?..." with regard to your situation. So, please know we are conscientious about it and want to help wherever we can. As for the rest of your stay it seems you were pleased. Again, thanks for being our guest. Have a great summer!

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Best Western Black Hills Lodge. We liked that there was access to the room from both the outside and indoor corridor on the 1st floor. We also like that the sink is separate from the shower/toilet area to facilitate both of us getting ready @ the same time. The breakfast also facilitates us getting on the road when traveling with one less stop as well as well as expense.

Greetings Theresa B,
First let me say you have a really nice Best Western there in Lakewood....love staying there when I come to Denver. and thank you for being our guest here in Spearfish last month. I see by the high ratings you were pretty happy with us. (insert smiley here). I usually think of the continental breakfast as a nice added value for our guests, but you mentioned the convenience versus going out to eat - great point! THANK YOU again and have a nice summer.

Hotel was very accommodating when weather kept us here another night. They were able to give another night in the same room without any hassle. Location was good, close to the college and shopping and there was a 24 hour restaurant next door.

Good morning Marilyn, Thank you for staying with us - and for the great comments. Sounds like you came to Spearfish in association with something at Black Hills State University. We love BH! I am an alum and a number of alums and students work at our hotel. Got a few new stores downtown too, check them out next time you're here!

Friends and I spent a weekend on the 2nd floor suite. Difficult getting stuff upstairs. Nice room layout but very poor housekeeping. Dirty walls and smears on lightswitches, furniture. Beds are nice, furniture is comfortable but I couldn't get over the dirty feeling. Desk staff super nice. Small bar 1st floor very nice looking. Very nice bartender, we only had one drink on the patio but nice atmosphere. Walls are THIN you'll hear everything.

Hello BKari2013. Your comments caught my eye quite late after your stay. My apologies for not keeping up on TripAdvisor. Moreover, my sincere apologies for your poor experience and falling short of what we should be. We know that cleanliness of our rooms is of huge importance - to most people it is THE most important (whether in a suite or any room) So when we fail it's embarrassing. Please let me, or General Manager Dan, know if you are coming back to the Spearfish area again. We would really appreciate a second chance and to make up for your last trip. Thank you again for your feedback. Have a great summer.
