“Wonderful, Stunning, Excellent etc...”

We stayed here in October whilst the Gaelic Mod competitions were happening in Stornoway. It was a brilliant experience.

The house is fantastic. It's a traditional cottage that has been renovated and extended. This has been done effectively to make use of all the spaces. Plenty of family space, dining room, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a wonderful lounge on the first floor with a stunning view out to sea. We were a family of 4, but still found spaces to hide away for a bit! The cottage really does have everything you would need. It's like a home from home, as opposed to some of the characterless rentals out there.

The house is only one small part though. There is so much to explore outside the door. The Callanish Stones are short drive away, as are the Iron Age houses next to the stunning white sandy Bosta Beach. There are so many hidden beaches to explore. We were fortunate to get some warm dry days in October which meant we had the beaches to ourselves. Stornoway is about 45 minutes drive. We had to do this drive every day, morning and night. Each time, the drive was enjoyable and we picked out something different each time.

If you take a drive round the Island, make sure you stop at Dun Carloway. A stunning example of a Broch. Although it is a ruin, some of the outside walls are 9m high. Then there are the Black Houses. All worth visiting. Anyone with children should plan a day at Eorpie Dunes Park. The best playpark you will find anywhere! There are also miles of white sandy beaches over the dunes.

All of these are a fantastic reason to visit the Isle of Lewis and Great Bernera. I would return in an instant, with Glen Cottage being my desired accommodation. Truly Wonderful, thank you.

Great location so near to Bosta Beach and Iron Age House. A truly fantastic location. Uig not too far away and doesn't get as much press as it should for its amazing beaches. Very welcoming community wherever you go.

“Brilliant house in Bernera”

This is a fabulous house. It has stunning views from a large upstairs lounge with leather sofas, two luxurious bathrooms, two large double bedrooms with very comfy beds (plus a small twin bedroom). The furniture is very tasteful. The central heating is very effective. The kitchen is very well equiped and also large. The parking is excellent. There is a great walk to the very sandy and secluded Bosta Beach and a gallery nearby. The owners were extremely helpful with wuestions like where is the hairdryer and where is the switch to the heated towel rail with responses by text within 10 minutes!

We thoroughly recommend this excellent house.
