I’ve only gone camping 2 or 3 times in my almost 49 years of life. All of those were in an RV. This was my first experience with camping in a tent and it’s the only way I’d ever try it. The luxury tent was awesome! The attention to the small details was much appreciated. I would recommend this campsite to anyone. They have luxury tents, cabins and RV sites. The owners are very nice and are truly interested in making sure your accommodations are to your satisfaction and that you’re enjoying your stay. It’s situated right on an adorable creek. You have your own picnic table and fire pit. There is a shelter with grills and such, one is gas. The bathhouse is so cute and was very clean, they have actual showers instead of concrete floors. We will definitely return next year!!!
This is the most perfect little place if you like to camp, but do not like all of the work. A hotel room in a tent - heater provided for the cold nights - fan for the hot days. The owners were amazingly helpful and kind. It was very peaceful to watch the river run during the day and to enjoy nice fires in the evenings. Definitely go to Blue Hole Falls and Laurel Trail Falls, also eat at Neva's and Suba's - perfect perfect weekend!
We stayed here with a group in Aug/Sept 2015. We parked our 30' bumper pull camper. One of our friends stayed in the luxury tent.
The campground is on a small river, and our boys loved that. Very peaceful to sit near it and read, or be around the campfire. The owner frequented the facility often, and takes great pride in keeping things very clean and well maintained, if we had any issues or questions he was very quick to help find a solution.
There are bathrooms on-site and they were very well-maintained. We are not big fans of many campground bathrooms, but felt very comfortable using these.
The Luxury tent was really nice, I did not stay in it personally, but our friends really seemed to enjoy it, and they looked very nice from when we 'visited'.
This is a small campground, only about 10 sites, and there are residential homes nearby. This did not seem to detract from the camping though, in fact this was far superior to many campsites we seen, as far as feeling like you are surrounded by nature.
I will say I do not think this is very well equipped for larger campers. There is a tricky bridge you have to cross, combined with a sharp turn down a steep gravel hill, and while I got in and out OK, it was nerve-wracking and I think some folks with a slightly larger camper, or less powerful truck could really get themselves in trouble here.
Also the 'clean-out' for your system is primitive and pretty hard to get to. There is not an easy turnaround for large units either.
In conclusion, for small campers, or folks who want to rent one of the cabins or luxury tents, we would definitely recommend this site. If you have a larger unit call and talk to them first.
Also its a pretty area, lakes nearby and lots of beautiful scenery. Some nice restaurants in Mountain City not too far away, and that was a plus too. We rented a pontoon for a few hours on Lake Watauga and really enjoyed that.
