If you're looking for a beautiful view with rustic amenities look no further. The cabin is located on the top of a slanted slope of the mountain overlooking the lake. This home has 5 beds but is a 4 bedroom 2 bath. It's best to confirm the access code to the key before arrival. We arrived late in the evening after a long trip with kids and the access code was incorrect. We called our contact with no response but luckily enough we figured out the correct code. There is no access to the lake from the cabin so if you want to go fishing you will need to drive about 10 mins away for access. This cabin is a perfect place for groups of couples to getaway, unwind and unplug.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend this cabin for families with small children.
The game room is in the cellar and is a lot of fun. Our 10 year old nephew spent most of his time there. However, the door to the steep cellar stairs has no lock or closing mechanism on either side. We had to prop a chair to keep the door closed so our 2 year old nephew didn't fall down the stairs. The 4th bedroom is also located in the cellar but there is no bathroom.
The master bedroom with access to the shared 2nd floor bathroom was very comfortable with a TV but poorly cleaned. We found snot on the bed sheets, tissues and other items under the bed and lots of dust. You have access to an outside deck with stunning views. Even though we visited during the cold weather we kept the slider open and you can hear running water below. The 2nd floor bathroom was clean however we discovered a water leak when this shower was used. The water leaks into the kitchen counter and floor. The second bedroom had 3 beds and a TV with DVD and VHS capabilities. There was an abundance of DVD's and VHS cassettes for your viewing pleasure. We don't recommend these bedrooms for anyone that has a hard time climbing narrow stairs. There is also a door that leads to these stairs with no lock or closing mechanism on either side. Our nephew did tumble down these stairs and lucky only walked away with a bump on his head. Still...not cool...we propped a couch against this door to keep it closed. Their is a nice comfortable bedroom on the 1st floor with lots of closet and drawer space and a TV. This room is very cozy however you can hear everything and everyone from the second floor and the cellar. The 1st floor bathroom was very spacious and clean. The kitchen amenities are far and few so you may want to bring extra grilling utensils, pots and pans, food storage containers, kids cups etc...
We contacted the rental owner and he came to address the leak from the 2nd floor bathroom with in a few hours. After doing some caulking we were assured the problem was fixed for the duration of the stay...however that evening someone took a shower and water soaked all our food, paper products and anything else we had on the kitchen counter and floor. Luckily we were leaving the next morning.
The best part of this rental is the views! There is a large outdoor deck for relaxation on the first floor and an old rusty charcoal grill in the car port. Off to the side of the property you can enjoy smores over the fire pit. There is also an old hot tub you can use for an additional cleaning fee.
All in all we did enjoy the time spent with family and the memories we made together.
