We love the trip up and down the mountain but that is only part of the attraction. The walk to and through the park at the top really tops off the whole experience. Make sure you bring a camera or video recorder on this one. It's an engineering marvel and a testament to how creative we humans are in finding ways to get to where we want to go! For this one the trip is as much fun as the destination!

This is the worlds steepest railroad. It is a very cool ride going down Lookout Mountain. It does go slow, so it is very safe. It is a very good experience and it's in the middle of Ruby Falls and Rock City.

We enjoyed the ride and especially the history of incline railway. So when you reach the top, do not go just for the top view, go down the stairs to see the historical pictures and newspaper article from December 1, 1895; pick at the engine room, especially while the cables are moving.

I would recommend to sit on the very back while going up, and on the front while going down (at least in my opinion those the best places to give you the best observation points). What spoiled the experience: while we where going up, two additional employees (beside one worker who is present in every train) joined the train. They were standing on the back of the train, blocking the view. For $15 per person, I think the view for the short ride should be unblocked, and employees need to be sited. I took the star off just for that, and another star off for the price.

Overall, it was an interesting experience, but not something that I would like to do in another 10 years.

This attraction was first used as a means of transport for getting workers off the mountain to their valley jobs a century ago. The technology was viable then as a necessary mean of transportation and today as a fun ride up to Lookout Park on Lookout Mountain. The views are magnificent and when you reach the top, you can look out over the general area. Although the saying is that you can see seven states, I can't say I was able to do that. A fun, family friendly ride for all ages.

We enjoyed our trip on the Incline. I suggest getting the three attraction pass along with Ruby Falls and Rock City. The ride is enjoyable, and the view is breathtaking!

Hint: Ruby Falls and Rock City are not accessible from the Incline. You will have to drive separately to reach those.
