Great German food in Chattanooga something you would not expect to find. German feel to the restaurant and you can come as you are. Not a lot of close parking, but I've always been able to find a place.

Brewhaus is a German inspired eatery in the north shore downtown Chattanooga area. At least when we went, it was open seating. Without the typical restaurant door greeter, we weren't quite sure what to do. Long picnic tables and benches lined the inside walls, bar tables were near the bar and deck and river view patio seating flanked the outside of the building. We located an empty spot and other guests were friendly enough to slide down the bench to make room for us. Our waiter stopped by and plopped down on the bench to take our order. He gave great suggestions and his casual demeanor added spice to the neighborhood pub atmosphere.

If you don't eat pork, which I don't, then your options are limited but they were kind enough to substitute chicken in an entree and I was happy. We spoke with locals who frequent Brewhaus on a weekly basis and it is easy to see why.

Trying to include visits to restaurants recommended by friends, we stopped at Brewhaus on a hot, hot humid day and enjoyed cool beverages and delicious food. It was World Cup mania so the bar tv was loud and a mid-day crowd was enjoying the game, though not to the detriment of those seated close by in the smallish main room of the pub. I opted for iced tea that was strong, ice cold and eagerly replenished by an attentive server (apparently the lone server who did a yeoman's job of waiting on everyone during the noon hour) to accompany my hamburger topped with their housemade pimento cheese. The burger comes with a sidecar; I was very glad to have selected the spaetzle which could have been a meal on its own. Artfully made, seasoned with care and good enough to push Mom's Mac n Cheese from its thrown of best comfort food. One of our lunch buddies enjoyed a big ol beer from their bier-liste to accompany his heidleberger patty melt, a combination of beef and bratwurst, grilled onions, the housemade pimento cheese on grilled sourdough. We all declared lunch a success even before we divvied up a fried apple pie adorned with cinnamon butter ice cream. Yep, add this place to your list. Not fancy-what pub is-but darn tasty and whether you're a biertrinker(in) or not, there's plenty of highly satisfactory liquid to quench your thirst.

Was excited to to eat here as it is the only German eatery in the area but was met with just average food. The service was good and the view was great but something seemed a little off with my wife's meal. All in all we did have a good time but just didn't enjoy the food that much.
