Hotel was excellent. Staff was friendly. Location is not as close to downtown as we had hoped, but still only a short walk.
Suite had a river view and was very modern. Loved the shower.
Free breakfast was better than some hotels.

From the moment we called ahead to say we were going to be late and needed a second night, Carlos pampered us. We had a thought of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to eat in the area and Carlos set us up with more options than we new about to eat and play closer to the hotel. Could not ask for better service.

Springhill in Cattanooga had the typical good Marriott service. We stopped while passing through town. We had made reservations in advance and knew nothing of the music festival in town which the hotel was basically in the middle of. They did a great job at managing the hotel and parking for guests during this large event, despite thousands looking for and having to pay for parking in that area. We were tired and didn't want to be in the middle of the action so the very kind front desk recommended Terminal Brewery downtown but away from the craziness. It was great and still pretty close. The employee managing the parking lot was also very kind, explaining what was going on and ensuring only hotel guests had access to the lot. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bonus...we could see the fireworks over the river from our window at the conclusion of the event. Beautiful patio overlooking the river off the main lobby bar as well. We'd definitely stay again.

The free breakfast is a joke. The waffles taste like cardboard, the sausage is rubbery and the eggs were too tough for my toddler to eat. The best part of the breakfast was the tiny cereal boxes. We paid almost $300 for a room that faces the parking lot. Walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbor sneeze. Front desk employees weren't friendly at all. Please choose another hotel if you're going to be staying in this area.

We chose this hotel over the other Marriott's, mainly because of its location and view.

First, even though we requested a Riverview, we were told that we needed to request a balcony Riverview. So instead, we were given a handicapped room, without the balcony. We never asked for a handicapped room, and the room itself was smaller, mainly because you have to have a larger bathroom for a wheelchair. We were never told this is the room we were getting.
Secondly, the man who checked us in was clueless. He was obviously new, but never mentioned anything about breakfast, Wi-Fi, or anything else about the hotel to help us out.
Lastly, the walls are very thin for such a nice chain, and there is no fan or noise to drown out the sounds. The air-conditioning is slow but fair, but very quiet, and there is no bathroom fan loud enough to drown out all of the door slamming, stomping, or noises from the room next-door. So, we didn't sleep well.
I stay at Marriott hotels all of the time for business, and even though this is a nice location, and a clean hotel, it definitely needs improvement in service, and accommodations.
When I return to Chattanooga, I will choose one of the other Marriott hotels.

I also heard other people complaining as well.

The SpringHill Suites Chattanooga Downtown is conveniently located close to the downtown tourist stuff (TN Aquarium and related, the dining options, etc.) but still a little removed so you are not in the thick of it. If the weather wasn't quite so miserably HOT, we could easily have walked to the downtown center.
Located right on the river, the views are nice, but be aware that the Tennessee River can be a little pungent on those sweltering humid summer days, and if the breeze comes from the wrong direction, some industrial fumes can sneak past the a/c. Not the hotel's fault, though, just one of those things in a city with a working waterfront.
Our river-view room was amazingly quiet; we didn't hear any sounds from the neighboring rooms, and the place was almost full. It overlooked the patio, so we did hear the thunk of the cornhole games in the evenings on the lawn below as well as the band that played there on night. Both stopped at reasonable times for us, but if you need really quiet, be aware. Otherwise we found the room to be clean, comfortable and attractive.
Service was quite good with one minor glitch: housekeeping skipped us one morning. When we returned to the room that evening and called the front desk to request that someone come tidy the room, housekeeping came very quickly and took care of everything. The front desk staff were uniformly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
The amenities we used were the pool (small, nice), the daily breakfast buffet (decent but carb-heavy), and the WIFI (had to buy the higher bandwidth upgrade to stream anything).

I'm winding up a 10-day stay at the SpringHill Marriottt Downtown/Cameron Harbor while I'm doing my orientation at BlueCross BlueShield. I don't enjoy being away from home on business by myself. I was dreading this trip. But my stay at this property has been wonderful. It is beautifully decorated. My double queen room is spacious and well-configured. There is a plethora of electrical outlets and you can reach them! I've enjoyed the convenient refrigerator and microwave. All of the facilities are great. The staff is extraordinarily helpful and pleasant. It's in an excellent location for enjoying the many fun restaurants and attractions in downtown Chattanooga.
