“Nothing great but OK”
Reviewed 1 July 2007

I stayed in this hotel because I wanted a Marriott property in this location. It' close to the interstate, airport, and by a mall with tons of restaurants. The high speed internet worked well and the breakfast was fine. It's an old style motel with all of the rooms having doors to the outside. It didn't rain while I was there but this is not a good style for the rain. The rate was cheap by today's standards ($67). If all you need is a place to sleep, this will do the job.

We booked our stay at the reasonable price of $74 (plus tax) for a king room on the Marriott web site. We quite like Fairfields but were very disappointed here.

Hotel would seem to be converted motel accommodation. We arrived in the late afternoon. Breakfast area did not look to be cleaned up properly. Check-in friendly enough. Security good. Needed room key to get access to the elevator.

Rooms are very small. Bathroom tiny and claustrophobic with wash basis in main bedroom area.

Normally get a nice beautifully presented king bed in a Fairfield. Not here! Looked as though bed linen had not been changed since previuos occupant. My wife was more reasonable and thought that the linen had not been ironed since washing.

Air conditioning was terrible and it made so much noise that you could not sleep with it on.

We had requested a fridge and extra pillows but no explanation as to why they were not provided.

A plus was the decent sized outdoor swimming pool but again xleaning leaved a lot to be desired.

Breakfast was the usual Fairfield formula but seemed a bit more downmarket than normal and a big glass jar for tips for the waffle maker was somewhat incongruous.

There are plenty of hotels/motels within walking distance and you must be able to much better for $74 a night.

Quite a few restaurants within walking/ short driving distance. The Italian restaurant seemed to be avoided like the plague by everyone so dont eat there and we had a reasonable meal at O'Charleys.

Location wise the motel is very convenient for the vast Hamilton Mall and also for the interstate with road noise a consequent problem.

My vehicle was broken into while being parked in front of the hotel and was not the only vehicle involved. At least one other vehicle was parked close to mine - in front of the hotel. One vehicle broken into was no more than 6 parking spaces from the front entrance to the hotel. There is a Cracker Barrrel which is conveniently located across the parking lot. It is convenient for more reasons than one. Not only was the hotel staff disinterested, one was puzzled that I would want to involve a police report. However, I did. I returned to the hotel in the early afternoon to determine whether I had left anything in my room. The hotel front desk and person in charge of room cleaning could not hide their lack of concern. I had to ask if they had video of the parking lot because this information was not offered by them. They were just too eager to end the conversation and acted as if I had done something improper. I was no longer welcome. The police report was filed and is active.

  • Disliked — Vehicle security and staff apathy.

Just returned from a weekend in Chattanooga, TN. Location was great for us as we wanted to be close to Hamilton Mall and relatives. We arrived Friday afternoon and was greeted by very pleasant staff. We booked two rooms, found out that they do not have adjoining rooms but we were given rooms directly across from each other. Rooms are on the small side, but we found them to be very clean with nice bedding. There are no closets, the iron and ironing board attached on the wall just as you enter the room and so is the clothes rack with plenty of hangers and a shelf above. The dresser had large drawers. We utilized the free wireless with no problems. They also have two computers with internet in the small lobby (15 minute limit). My husband enjoyed the free breakfast each morning. They had fruit, cereals, yogurts, pastries, make your own waffles along with sausage biscuits that you could microwave. If you wanted a heartier breakfast there was an abundance of restaurants in walking distance. Cracker Barrel and Shoney just to name a few. Overall a very nice budget hotel and we would definately stay again.

my husband and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn Chattanooga and found the hotel to be very clean, secure (you must use your room key to go to the upper floors of the hotel). The location is perfect if ou are not going downtown - its close to all the good eating spots and near the Hamilton Place Mall (I recommend dining at Sticky Fingers by the way!) the front desk staff was exceptionally friendly. free wireless internet too - which does not happen often (most hotels charge a 9.95 or higher charge). we had ample towels and wash clothes but we did request an additional blanket (it got cool the night we were there). the room arrea was sufficient for two people. there was no closet however so your suitcase had to sit out on the suitcase stand by the door. the bathroom was very clean - one of the cleanest I have seen. the bathroom was not huge but again was ample space for one or two people (we had a king room). i would definitely stay at this property again. (They also had a breakfast in the morning that was complimentary but we did not participate).

Basically a budget hotel in a good location. Plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom are small and very basic amenities. Would stay here again on business.

I would not stay at this hotel ever again. Next to impossible to get in the room, the door would unlock but extremely hard to get door to open, had to slam body into it. Then when other people came in at 2 am and had a hard time getting into their rooms because of the doors, they were talking and yelling back and forth and then stated that they were going to try key in my door and see if it opened. The room and bathroom was dirty as well as the bedspreads. The tv didn't work properly. The continental breakfast was a joke. There are no elevators so had to carry up the luggage 2 flights of stairs. Staff not helpful in regards to any of the problems we encountered.

  • Liked — close to the mall and restaurants
  • Disliked — cleanliness and safety
  • Tips/Secrets — I have stayed at many hotels in chattanooga and there are much better options than this one, but cost a bit more.
