Country Inns & Suites in Cookeville, TN is a VERY UNSAFE PLACE TO STAY. My 3 year old child was able to open the window of our second story room and hang half of his body out the window, while yelling a "Hi Dad, look at me" down to the car where his father was. He did this all in less then two minutes while I was in the other room changing the baby. He stood up on the chair that was located in front of the window, unlocked the window and pushed it open about 10 -14 inches.
OTHER ISSUES:
1) Advertised a spa - but there was only a sheet of plywood out by the pool.
2) We asked for towels and were told to come get them ourselves.
3) Plastic corner moldings in our room were hanging off the wall and the nails were on the floor (easy for my daughter to get to)\
4) Toilet ran for the entire 5 day stay. Had to call twice for this to be fixed. They wiggled the handle and said it was fixed. *but only until the toiled was flushed.
5) Price of $54.00 was right, but I guess you get what you pay for. The hallways and the rooms looked really run down and old.
6) Room service was great but they knocked at the door by 9:30 am each morning. Woke us up twice.

I am not writing this because I am a person who complains often. I am writing this because I have never been so scared in my life until the day that I saw my son hanging half way out of a second story window. Hopefully, if you have a child you will choose to stay else where where it is family friendly and safe.

Our hotel is four and a half years old. The comment about being run down is ridiculous.

As far as the child "hanging halfway out the window", the guest admits that the 3 year old child CLIMBED up onto the chair, UNLOCKED the window, and PUSHED it open! How is the hotel responsible for this? The parent should have been watching the child. If the child had to climb to get to the locking mechanism, then it was high enough for the average child to not reach flatfooted. If it was locked, then the hotel staff did indeed do it's part to ensure safety. Think about that for a minute.

We do not advertise a spa. Plans called for one during our construction phase, but was scrapped before we opened, thus no advertisements were offered. Check our official website at (commercial URL) for a list of our amenities.

As far as this guest being "in the other room" while her child committed this act, there is a slight problem. Our multiple room suites do not have any windows that face our parking lot, nor any other lot, for that matter. They face a wooded, flowered area behind the hotel. So how did the child call down to the father unloading the car while the mother was "in the other room"? Hmm. Unless the child is Stretch Armstrong and can peer around the side of the building from his facing-the-back window, I don't believe this is possible. Embellishment? Perhaps.

I understand that, as a parent myself, when a near accident occurs it is easier to vent out blame on others, but in this case, the mother should have been watching her child, not the staff. We are a safe hotel, and our record is unblemished. Come stay with us and see for yourself.

This was my first time getting a reservation online. The hotel did not have a record of it.Good thing I took a print out of it. The desk clerk was very nice and corrected it.
The room was very nice, and clean, the people working there were the same.
The breakfast was good. They did not have bisquits and sauage, as advertised, but it was okay with us.
We stayed 2 nights-got a great online rate, and would stop there again.

I had the privilege to stay at the Country Inn & Suites in my home town of Cookeville, TN while my home was being remodeled this winter. From the especially great and friendly customer service to the exceptionally clean room, this hotel could not be beat! I'm proud to have a hotel like this in my town. It represents Cookeville very well. I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE who has the fortunate experience of staying in our great town!
