The Depot is not only Cookeville's premier tourist attraction but also the focal point for its vibrant downtown district. The unique pagoda-like building was built in 1909 and houses historic artifacts and model train set. Outside there is a 1913 steam locomotive and bright red caboose that the kids can explore. One end has a small pavilion and park where concerts, plays, movies, etc. are staged, often for free. Surrounding the Depot are shops, restaurants, art galleries, antique malls, and more that offer something for everyone.

“fun quick trip with kids”

This park is a nice place to take small kids and a good book. The kids play on the trains, look at the toy train displays inside the depot, while Dad reads a good book and lazes in the sun.

Kids liked climbing on the trains but it'd be nice to go inside the museum / train cars but we never make it during hours.
