The Depot is not only Cookeville's premier tourist attraction but also the focal point for its vibrant downtown district. The unique pagoda-like building was built in 1909 and houses historic artifacts and model train set. Outside there is a 1913 steam locomotive and bright red caboose that the kids can explore. One end has a small pavilion and park where concerts, plays, movies, etc. are staged, often for free. Surrounding the Depot are shops, restaurants, art galleries, antique malls, and more that offer something for everyone.
