Reviewed 30 September 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We rented the Faffoos Bear den at the end of July and were excited
from the pictures and the description of the place. Our drive in was
beautiful and the cabin looked great besides the almost unfavorably
steep driveway up to it. Once we got in we noticed we had no cell
signal which would have been fine but it could have been mentioned in
the ad along with the fact that there was no wifi. This is great for
people that want to completely disconnect but some of us need to have
some way for emergency calls or for the simple fact of being able to
look up areas nearby. We had no map that said "you are here" so we
could have a clue where we were and what was around. So plan your
destinations ahead of time or you'll be taking a short trip into town
for a signal to look things up.

Next issue with the cabin was this "queen bed" was actually just a
full, definitely not the best for two adults. Not even an actual
mattress. Then the lack of supplies. If you didn't come prepared with
extra towels, trash bags, toilet paper just go ahead and make a trip
into town, if you are planning on staying more than a couple days.

That peaceful creek out front is beautiful but to its detriment, the
cabin is on a thru road, and with fairly frequent traffic, the
serenity of the babbling waters is often interrupted. You would think
being in the middle of nowhere this thru road would barely be used.
Boy were we wrong. All hours of morning and night people were driving
by, no it wasn't loud but it sure was annoying when you thought you
were getting away from all of that.

That cleaning fee that you pay is actually just paying someone to wipe
down the floors and change out the sheets and towels. We had to get
new sponges to even wash the dishes since the one left for us looked
deadly but make sure you wash those dishes for them. And the extra
tiny fridge is great since they never clean it out from when people
store fish in there so I hope you love that aroma or possibly have
some baking soda with you. Also, you get the lovely pleasure of taking
your trash with you unlike other cabins we've been to that have you
pay a cleaning fee for a reason...because they actually clean up for
you like a real vacation. So we had to pack up everything with us
along with the dog and our bags of trash (mind you they only leave you
with two trash bags so this is where you get to supply your own).
Remember folks collect that trash in the cabin and keep the bags of
trash in the kitchen since you can't put them outside and you can't
just walk down the street to a garbage bin.

Overall the location was nice, close to some great hiking trails and a
short 45 minute drive from Gatlinburg, which is quite the sight. While
we enjoyed our stay at this property and it was a memorable
experience, we don't think we'd revisit this cabin were we to have the

Thank you for your review. We are certainly glad you enjoyed your stay at our most economical cabin Faffoo Bears Den. Located in Cosby just minutes from Hiking trails, white water rafting, trout fishing and more...
As follows I will be addressing your concerns:
The cabin is easily accessible with any vehicle, the only down fall with the driveway is the last 50 feet is steep but can be maneuvered by most drivers with a little momentum with 2 wheel drive. If not there is ample room to park 50 feet from the cabin.
We do apologize you were unaware of cell phone reception and available Wifi. Unfortunately cell phone reception is hit and miss in the mountains depending on the carrier you are using. Also the availability of WiFi is not offered or mentioned in the cabin description. We are only able to provide information on what the cabin offers, not what is doesn't. Less than a mile in either direction there is a signal for most cell phone carriers if your cell phone does not work at Faffoo Bears Den.
We do provide directions for you to locate the cabin when you reserved the cabin and there is a map in the cabin showing where you are and where the trash receptacles are located. That brings me to a concern you had with having to take trash to the receptacles. The county that the cabin is located in does not have trash collection due to the bears and other wildlife located in the Smoky Mountains that are attracted to trash. We ask that you carry the trash to the nearest receptacle for your safety.
The cabin is supplied with towels and linens enough for the amount of guests and days at the cabin. It is stated in the rental agreement that we provide starter supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, hotel style soap and shampoo for your convenience. A simple call to our office is all that would have been needed for us to schedule a delivery for additional supplies and or towels.
You are absolutely correct the creek out front is awesome and traffic on the road depends on the time of the year and the weather. Your stay having been during July a peak season and the weather was beautiful draws a lot of people such as yourself to the Great Smoky Mountains. Many white water rafting companies are located just minutes down the road on the Pigeon River from the cabin and used by travelers.
Cramers Creekside Cabins Inc. staff takes pride in maintaining clean and operational cabins for our guests to enjoy. When situations arise and they sometimes do we are prepared with a complete maintenance and housekeeping crew to assist our guests. Furthermore, our executive housekeeper left a voicemail the 1st morning of your stay to welcome you to the Great Smoky Mountains. Additionally, the second day of your stay another message was left to check to see if you needed anything. Understanding that you had poor reception at the cabin you would have still been able to retrieve your voice mails while in Cosby, Gatlinburg or Newport. Again, a simple call to our office was all it would take to send out housekeeping or maintenance to address your concerns.
Finally, we wish you would have contacted our office while you were here vacationing instead of waiting till you were home to write a review.
