We are regulars at Reds and usually go there for lunch, but decided to try dinner with three adults and two children. The adults ordered the special, prime rib with sides from their regular sides. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans. They were out of green beans and asked if I wanted the other vegetable, carrots. No. I opted for a salad instead and was told that would be an extra $1.50. The orders arrived and we started to eat finding the meat and au jus stone cold. The scoop of mashed potatoes was crusty obviously the bottom of the pot and swimming in the cold au jus. None of us wanted to complain but when the waitress asked if the food was ok, we told her it was cold. She graciously took the food back to the kitchen. Out came a woman who I assume was the manager and very arrogantly told us that to heat up the meat they would have to dunk it back into the au jus and it would not be medium rare as we had ordered it. We said ok we just wanted it hot. The plates came back and the meat was warm, but our rolls had been removed. The waitress brought two pieces of bread and told us no one had complained about the prime rib except us. As a chef, It was obvious to me the meat was just dunked in beef stock as that was the only flavor. It only takes a minute and hot water to make delicious Sysco mashed potatoes, yet we were served the nasty potatoes. And then get charged extra because I did not like the other sides with prime rib. It was at least one half hour before the dining room closed on the holiday weekend, but the last meal at a quality restaurant should be as good as the first one. The chef who put out that lousy meal should be fired as does the woman who blasted us. Very disappointing and ruined our evening out! We won't be going there again!
